I think 6-4 gets us in the tournament...

I want 7-3.

Next three are huge.

@ Rutgers - some good teams have gone there and lost. We need to be ready for this game. If you want to finish top 4-5 of this league you must win this game.

W

Depaul - Athletic team that can score but at home we should be able to get this win

W

@ St. Johns - No way we lose 2 games to St. Johns this years.

W

That would put us at 18-6 (8-3 Big East). Going into @Marquette.

6-4 makes me very nervous, without a loss to Presbyterian at home I think 6-4 gets us in. If we are on the bubble I think that loss and that loss alone keeps us out, I can just see the selection committee having that conversation and I don't like the way it ends up. I think 7-3 in will get us where we need to be, win 1 game in the BE tourney with a 7-3 finish and we're a lock.

I'd love to see 9-1 or 10-0, hey, why not?

I think 6-4 and at least one win in the BE tourny gets us in. Anything less would require a lot of teams to finish really bad. I will not rely on others peoples misfortunes to help us out.... i.e. see the Bengals.

We need SK healthy. Its evident he is being hampered by this injury. To help make up for it, Dixon is trying to do too much.

On the flip side, Cashmere and Justin Jackson are playing the best I've ever seen them play. We're going to need a lot more of that.

Its as simple as this:

Protect your home court and try to go win a couple on the road.

Providence, Seton Hall, Depaul, Marquette, and Louisville are must wins.

Win 2/5 on the road (At StJ, At Nova come to mind as the least difficult) and we're looking at a record of

22-9.

Get 7 more wins to get to 12-6 in the Big East and they'll make it to the tournament, and on a neutral court I think Cincinnati can play with almost anyone.

Cash has been playing good off and on. Jackson at his best is an extreme liability. He was good for a few minutes last night and that was about it.

I wouldn't call him an 'extreme liability'. Granted his offensive skill set is very limited. Boeheim figured out almost immediately that he has zero post moves so they sagged off him almost daring him to shoot. That seemed to work.

Yep exactly... Jackson is not a liability. Hes a sophmore.

F*ck it lets run the damn table! Possible- hell yea, Probable- not really. But we are playing damn good basketball and I think we are better than every team that is left on our schedule. We play awesome on the road and our backs are against the wall (which this team plays well when that is the case) to get into the tourney because of some early season losses. Lets make some noise going into New York!

Jackson is definitely a liability. No threat to score, constantly makes stupid fouls, not a good rebounder. But I do agree on your last part, he is a sophomore.

The guy shoots the best FG percent on the team. Has the most blocks on the team. Is a great passing big man. Of recent, his fouls have dropped tremendously.

Does he get out of position on defense, yes... from being over aggressive. The guy makes some spectacular plays and some terrrible plays. Jackson is out best option now and going forward whether people want to admit that or not. Hes head an shoulders above chek and gaines offensively and defensivly.

I don't necessarily disagree with any of that, but that doesn't mean he isn't a liability. Unfortunately UC has a very weak frontcourt and Jackson may be the best option out there. I think Mbodj is slightly worse than Jackson right now, but Mbodj is at least a bigger body.

I think we get 4 of the next 5....I also like going to USF, Nova, in addition to Louisville and Marquette at home. I am expecting 7-3, although 6-4 wouldn't be awful....i'd feel better at 12-6 in BEAST, although 11-7 isn't too shabby either.

We have to bear Rutgers saturday. It's a must win imo.

The front court was the best offense the Cats had last night, the Jackson/Gates combination was really good. Justin also found Dixon and Kilpatrick multiple times along the baseline, but his passes were so intuitive they didn't even know the ball was coming their way. It was one of his better games in his Bearcat career.

The offense was at it's best last night with Jackson in the high post. He is a good passer that can really attack the zone from the high post. He made some great passes to Yancy last night that led to layups. He stayed out of foul trouble as well.

I would like to see him go up more aggressively and dunk more balls close to the rim. I think that will come.

The offense was good with Jackson up until Syracuse realized he is a pass only player. If you recall Boeheim called a timeout midway through the second half and then after Jackson was pretty much a non-factor. You know that Boeheim told him players to quit closing in on Jackson and that is exactly what they did.

But in a unintentional way I think you guys are proving my point. You all think he played one of his best games last night. So if his best game was 27 minutes, 2-7 shooting, 4 points, 2 rebounds, 4 turnovers, 1 block, and 3 assists and you all think that was great, I guess we just have different expectations.

I think 6-4 puts us just on the good side of the bubble headed into the BET, but we may need a win there to be safe.

5-5 puts us in sweat mode.

Lets say...
We take care of Providence and Depaul at home.
We split against Marquette.
That leaves us needing 3-3 in our games @Rutgers, @USF, @Nova, @STJ, Seton Hall, Louisville. The first of those swing games is Saturday.

Never said I thought it was great, just commenting that it was one of his better games. Obviously, the front court is a weakness and Cincinnati's simplistic dribble drive offense couldn't work against a zone as good as Syracuse, ball movement is something they really struggle with.

There is a reason a team like Villanova (even this year) can carve up Syracuse's zone. If you have the right ingredients its the easiest defense to play against, unfortunately Cincinnati has zero of the ingredients in the back court.
