LATHRUP VILLAGE — Already with a smile and personality that could light up a room, the grin on Montrel Robinson’s face rightfully gets as wide as the Pacific Ocean when he talks about the future from a couple of different perspectives.
One is the immediate future of his senior year playing football for Southfield-Lathrup.
A senior wide receiver for the Chargers, Robinson flashes his pearly whites big time when imagining the following scenes that could transpire this year on the field at Lathrup or other school venues.
The quarterback gives his signals, gets the ball snapped to him and immediately looks in the direction of Robinson.
Big and strong at 6-feet, 194 pounds, Robinson can then picture himself creating separation from defensive backs at the line of scrimmage and freeing himself to catch a pass on an underneath route.
Just as easily, Robinson can see himself using his electric speed and 34-inch leaping ability to blow by the defender, go up effortlessly in the air, snatch the ball out of the sky and coast down the field for a long play.
