Wow!! Pathetic...I couldn't imagine being in the stands at that game. All these offensive players have to do is dribble into their defender and it can be called a foul if the refs so choose. I get if the hands are down, but when the hands are up the defender should still be able to defend his position.

This is very very simple.....

If your hands are straight up there should not be a foul called.

Yesterdays Foul on JD that counted as an and one was a bullshit call.

Some refs I think are taking the no hand check rule too far to include no contact by the body. You can't have no contact if the ball handler dribbles into you. There was one yesterday on NCCentral that was bogus too where the defender was moving towards the basket with his hands up. The defender has to be able to defend still. Now if you move in and try to push the ball handler out of his lane with the body a blocking foul could be warranted. I think Johnson got called for this when a player tried to go baseline and he nudged him a little. I don't mind trying to tighten up on some of the rules to keep aggressive defenders from mauling guys, but having two teams shoot 102 free throws is ridiculous.

I think it's a learning period for the refs as well as the players. Eventually, both sides will have to come to some sort of understanding via a rules clarification from the NCAA. Otherwise, every game will be a slow 3 hours and the team with the highest FT % will win more often than not. That's not a measure of how good a team is come tournament time. But for now, we better start practicing more FT's.

It sure was! When I rewatched the game on ESPN3 the announcers were talking about how unfair that call was. The offensive player obviously initiated contact and JD was straight up. As a defender you are completely helpless if they continue to call that.
