LB Kent Turene told me today that if Michigan offers, they will take over the number one spot. It seemed like he would eventually commit if we offered, but he didn't want to come out and say it.

He said he's not frustrated, and he understands that they need some time. We'll see what happens if/when they offer.

To find one of the most versatile middle linebackers in the country one would have to travel deep into the South Florida sunshine. Lauderdale Lakes, Florida is home to the Boyd Anderson High School Cobras. A talent rich school, Boyd Anderson High has sent several players to major college programs. The 2010 graduation class will send at least four student athletes to the next level to play football. Steven Clark (Vanderbilt), Cliff Coleman (Mississippi), Marcus Thompson (Rutgers) and Demar Dorsey (Michigan) are all players who signed letters of intent this past February.

Next inline is middle linebacker Kent Turene. A 6'3" 225 pound physical specimen, Turene is sure to be one of the hottest recruits in the Sunshine State. His size allows him to be one of the most physical players while his strength and speed give him the versatility to separate him from other prospects. His best forty yard dash time is a 4.6, showing his speed. In the weight room he benches 315 pounds and squats 345 pounds. During the off-season, Turene also displays his athleticism playing basketball. When asked who he compares himself too on the football field, Turene responded by saying "I compare myself to Ray Lewis, but I want to have my own legacy." Turene speaks the truth as his game has many similarities to Ray Lewis saying "I can do it all, I can hit, cover, I'm am also a hard worker and a great leader.". He has the size that Lewis does, the combination of strength and speed, but most importantly the determination and leadership skills that Ray Lewis possesses.

As a junior, Turene registered 120 total tackles, 2 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles. His defensive unit at Boyd Anderson allowed 20.8 points per game during their 6-6 season. Turene hopes to improve both the points per game average and the number of wins as one of his team goals is to lead the Cobra's to be a top team in the state of Florida. To help achieve this goal, Turene will attend many camps, combines and other events during the summer. At these events he'll learn techniques from some of the top coaches in the region and he'll be able to showcase his skills against some of the best athletes in the region.

On the recruiting trail, Turene has earned two scholarship offers up to this point Both Nebraska and FIU have sent him written offers while many others have shown interest. When a defensive prospect receivers an offer from Coach Bo Pelini (Nebraska), one must assume that this prospect plays at an elite level. Turene has no favorites but will narrow it down soon as he hopes to make a decision before his senior season. When asked about Michigan, Turene said he is "very interested in Michigan" and that they have "shown a lot of interest." Turene also discussed the possibility of playing with ex-Boyd Anderson teammate Demar Dorsey saying "Demar Dorsey is a great teammate and a great person. I would love to play with him." He insist that distance and weather will have no impact on his decision.

Boyd Anderson LB, Kent Turene told me that Tony Dews will be at his school to evaluate him sometime this week. This is good news for Turene, as he's been wanting to hear more from Michigan.

He's been racking up offers from everywhere, with the latest from UCF for a total of 16. Kent is really high on Michigan, and depending on how the evaluation goes, he's hoping Michigan extends an offer his way.

RT jcshurburtt: Kentucky also jumps in with an offer for LB Kent Turene (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla./Boyd Anderson).

In my opinion, the story above (talking about Dorsey having admissin problems) causes a huge blow to UM's chances with Florida LB Kent Turene. With Alabama and Florida after him, and Michigan just flat out rejecting one of his best friends, I highly doubt the Wolverines are even close on this one.
