Unquestionable talent. Reputation of being lazy. A former member of the Illinois basketball team, He played as a redshirt freshman before transferring. Academic issues caused him to miss workouts and hindered his growth. Bruce Weber is on record saying he is lazy. Definitely worth the effort if he has matured. A former 2008 3 star he would be a solid rebounder.
 
Simpson is averaging 14.5 points, 8 reb., and 2 blocks in the early season thru 6 games. He shoots 50% from the field and 69.5% from the ft line. Interestingly, he also is averaging 1.75 assist a game.
 
I'm confident Mick will do his due diligence on this kid to make sure he's not a risk anymore. We are no longer at the point where he needs to be taking large risks, even if the front line is thin.
 
Gives you a guy that is physical and can defend and rebound in the BEast. Most times a couple of years of aging takes care of youthful stupidity. When you find yourself humbled by life you become better or bitter. Let's hope Mr. Simpson has chosen to be better.

High major player who transfered in from the University of Illinois. Spent high school career at Chicago Simeon. Has offers from Cincinnati, Depaul, Memphis, Tennessee, and Gonzaga. Also getting some warm interest from some Big 12 and ACC schools.

Stan Simpson (6’10, 235, C) John A. Logan College (IL) – Stan Simpson is one of the more offensively skilled bigs on the board. Simpson put up solid numbers this year at John A. Logan and has piqued several schools’ interest since the second half of the season. He is set to visit Memphis on April 8th and 9th. Josh Pastner and his staff seem to be very high on Simpson. Along with Memphis, Simpson has been offered by Cincinatti, Depaul and Gonzaga. He has also drawn interest from West Virginia, Georgia and Missouri throughout the year. According to several sources Simpson has narrowed his list to Memphis, UCONN, Kentucky and Kansas. We will see if the interest is mutual.
