Notes: Nasty CB. Early projection, I can see him being about as good or maybe even better than Louis Young, his former teammate. Certainly more explosive. He should be a four star and one of the better CBs in the nation based on camp performances. Maryland was the first to offer and was an early favorite, so hopefully they can close it out.
--DB Blake Countess (5-10, 174) of Olney, Md., has nine offers in all and is hearing from Clemson and USC. His offers are from Maryland, Notre Dame, Louisville, Wisconsin, Pitt, Cincinnati, Arkansas, Illinois, and West Virginia. Others showing interest include North Carolina, LSU, Virginia, Michigan, Oregon, and Oregon State. His only visit thus far was to Wake Forest.
Virginia is the latest scholarship offer for cornerback Blake Countess (Owings Mills, Md./Good Counsel). The Cavaliers join Notre Dame, Maryland, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Illinois, Louisville, Wisconsin and Cincinnati.
This week, Florida, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Syracuse and Rutgers have been through his school.
Countess was impressive at the National Under Armour Combine on New Year’s Day at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder was impressive in all drills, ran a 4.56-second 40-yard dash on a wet surface, a 4.23 shuttle and had a 33.6-inch vertical.
