Robert Mincey (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) has a dozen scholarship offers and at a recent unofficial visit had him thinking about a verbal commitment, except for one problem.
"I went and visited the University of Cincinnati and loved it," said the 6-foot-5, 260-pound defensive end. "I felt very comfortable with the school, the coaches and the environment. Only problem is that [the Bearcats] haven't offered yet. Cincinnati wants to see senior film but I already have some good scholarship offers. Illinois and Kansas are a couple of the bigger schools that have offered already."
This is a kid I've been following for a little while wondering if we'd ever offer. The kid obviously has the ideal frame to play at this level. I've heard the kid might have some academic problems, though. Wonder how we're looking with our other DE prospects.
It doesn't look like Jones and staff went after too many DEs this year. Zettle is still out there and if Michigan has a bad year who knows where RR will end up.
I believe Desimon Green from PA is announcing soon and he is down to us, Pitt, and Texas Tech. I also believe Deonte Gibson is close to deciding but not sure where we stand with him. Not sure where we stand with Austin Traylor either. Assuming guys like Adeyanju and Jesse Hayes are leaning elsewhere but not sure.

If he is going to take an official visit to UC, I would have to think the coaching staff has either offered him or told him that they plan to at some point.
Definitely seems like there's some interest there. This kid has a real nice frame. I think many thought that Mincey wouldn't have the grades to qualify so that's why we weren't going after him. Maybe the staff is trying to stay close with him.
I thought there were a couple coming together from PA, Desimon Green and Quinton Jefferson. Either would be great pickups but I think they'll both be tough to pull away from Pitt. I think they both have relatives who are playing/have played at Pitt and they're from that area.
