"What jumps out at me is his explosiveness. In my 32 years coaching here, I'm not sure we've had a kid that big who can move like Percy does," Kenston coach Roger Vasey said. "He's a charismatic kid, and he really fit in well with the entire school and the community and the coaching staff. And as he gets more and more into game shape, we are obviously going to use him on both sides of the ball because we want to utilize that size and strength and speed.
"There's a reason why all these schools have already offered him a scholarship."
Johnson, who ran a 4.56 40-yard dash at a Michigan State camp, had drawn enough interest during his days at Madison Heights to receive scholarship offers to play at Akron, Ohio University, Bowling Green, Toledo and Cincinnati. Wickliffe coach and former John Carroll University standout P.J. Insana — who coached against Johnson in his first game this season — called the senior "very impressive."
