Attending UC junior day next week.

UC offering him at TE while others at DE or OL should help somewhat.

ScoutingOhio just listing Mills as having a Minny offer. Either we jumped the gun, or they are a little late to the party. Probably both. :)

Nike Combine Overview from Columbus, OH

Jamare Mills (6-4/250) of Dublin, Ohio was one of the most athletic big men at the camp. His body control was as good as anyone on the field, including the receivers as he would contort to catch passes high and low. He caught everything near him. He lacked the speed to pull away from the linebackers once he got past the initial jam at the line of scrimmage. There's no questioning that he's an athlete, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him as an offensive or defensive lineman on the next level.

ANALYSIS

Fringebowlteam.blogspot.com: “Has a thickly built lower body and tall, large frame that should allow him to bulk up to 300+ lbs. As a TE, has below average speed and elusiveness in the open field; yet as a tackle, is very light on his feet and moves his feet with quickness. As a blocker, uses his size and lower body strength to push defenders out of the way with ease; comes out of his stance with a nice, flat back that allows him to gain leverage on the defender and use a strong leg drive effectively.”

Duane Long: “The kind of body and athleticism everyone is looking for. Unlimited upside.”

Doesn't necessarily sound like the right type of TE for our offense which splits the TEs out and uses them like an extra WR. However, these are the types of guys (HS TEs who have great frames but a step too slow to play TE at the next level) that make ideal OT's in the spread offense because they can move in space.

Exactly why he may not see an offer at TE. Could bea solid DE tho

I say bring him in and tell him he will have a fair shot at playing any position he wants. If it doesn't work out then move him to the position best suited for him. You take guys with that combination of body frame and athleticism all day long and find him a position later.
