What I was pleasantly surprised to see was the standout performance of defensive back/running back Mike Hilton. I didn’t know much about Hilton going in, other than coach Chip Walker said he is “the best football player we have.” Hilton made good on his coach’s assessment as the 5-foot-10, 185-pound safety stepped in at tailback and led the Pats with 107 yards on 20 carries and scored the game’s only touchdown. He also ensured the victory with a late interception.
Hilton is getting a lot of looks from small to mid-level colleges. Based on what I saw he may deserve a harder look from the big boys.
