The Ohio State Buckeyes have already taken two offensive linemen from Ohio in the 2012 class and with spots limited, the OSU staff will have to be selective if they wish to take a third. In Ohio, one of the top junior offensive tackles left on the board is Kenton Playko of Olentangy High School in Lewis Center. The 6-foot-5, 265-pound prospect is the high school teammate of Buckeye commitment Josh Perry and the big tackle was able to make the short trip south to Columbus with Perry for a game this fall.
Playko attends the same high school as current 2012 commit Josh Perry does.
"I went to the (Ohio U.) game," Playko said. "It was a lot of fun. It was a pretty cool atmosphere and everything so it was cool to see everything and how OSU really works."
Recently, Playko has been drawing a ton of interest from a variety of college programs. Though Toledo is the only school to verbally offer, there are a few other schools that may be close to doing so.
"I have been talking a lot with Duke," Playko explained. "They told me to come to camp and that they would make a decision on offering me at camp. I've also been talking to Northwestern, Toledo, Miami (OH), Boston College, Akron, Cincinnati, Michigan State, and Notre Dame."
Few prospects were as busy as Playko in the fall as nearly every Saturday he was somewhere different on an unofficial visit.
"I went to games at Notre Dame, Toledo, Akron, Duke, Northwestern, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Cincinnati," he said. "It was a lot of fun, a lot of football. I was loving every second of it."
Of those visits, three schools really stood out for their atmosphere.
"The top three would probably be Notre Dame, Northwestern, and Duke," he explained. "Those three atmospheres were pretty crazy."
Though Playko has had a chance to see a lot of schools so far, he's still not claiming any favorites and will continue to evaluate each school that is showing interest.
"I'm keeping things pretty open," Playko explained. "I really just want to play college football, all of the schools are good schools."
Over the next few months, Playko will be back on the road checking out schools and gathering more information as he hopes to grow his offer list.
"I'm thinking about going to Toledo's junior day and Duke's junior day, those are the main ones," Playko said.
"(I'll be camping at) Boston College, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, and Akron. Those are the ones that I know I'll be going to camps."
