Last game threw for almost 600 yards. Worth keeping an eye on as the younger brother of Ben Mauk.

Not sure if he's coming to UC for a practice this year (I would hope so), but he is visiting ND this Saturday.
BJ needs to jump on Mauk, as OSU is pretty darn interested already as well.

I expect Maty to get a ND and UC offer come this Sept, as Kelly was intending on doing that at UC regardless. Plus, it would only make sense for BJ to follow suit.

Visited ND last Saturday with both of his parents and really liked everything. He spoke to several coaches although that did not include Kelly (Kelly was very busy with coaches clinic and then had to jet off to brother's wedding). Apparently Kelly verbally offered when Mauk was only in 7th grade (Ben was playing for Kelly at the time at UC) so Kelly recognized really early this kid was gonna be a big time talent. He's visiting OSU this weekend for the spring game. He went to a 7 on 7 at ND last summer and will do so again this summer. It's going to be a real battle between OSU and ND for him. I seriously wonder what ND will do if both Maty and Gray Crow (who says we're currently the leader and is visiting for a 3rd time this weekend for the BG game) both want to come to ND next year.

Was at ND for a passing tournament. They loom large at this time. I know the Mauk family outside of Ben likes the school, so hopefully Ben can get into his ear somewhat.

From Sept...

4. A junior will win Mr. Football this season.

FACT. Ok, so there is still a long way to go, but by far the two most impressive players in the state through three games are Kenton quarterback Maty Mauk and Canton Glen Oak running back Brionte Dunn. Both are in the class of 2012.

Mauk is putting up crooked numbers that are borderline ludicrous. Through three weeks he already has 1,444 passing yards and 17 TD passes to go along with 5 rushing touchdowns. He's on pace for over 4,800 passing yards, 56 TD passes and 15 rushing touchdowns in the regular season, not even taking into consideration the playoffs. Insane.

KENTON - Kenton High School junior Maty Mauk was named the Gatorade Ohio Football Player of the Year.

The award recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field.

Ben Mauk, Maty's brother, received the same honor in 2002.

Maty Mauk, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound quarterback, passed for 5,670 yards, 69 touchdowns and had just 14 interceptions this past season for the Wildcats. He also rushed for 974 yards and 16 touchdowns.

In the classroom, Mauk maintained a 3.57 grade point average.

Jan. Junior Day visits for QB Maty Mauk (Kenton, Ohio). Mizzouri (Jan 22), Notre Dame (Jan. 24) and Cincinnati (Jan. 27). All have offered.

I'd say ND is the front runner, with UC in the mix.

His brother Ben dislikes ND, and favors UC. Let's hope he listens to his brother moreso than mom or dad.

Where's the bad blood there between Ben and ND? Is this a Kelly leaving Cincinnati thing?
