Shooting guard
Ft. Wayne, Indiana
Harding
Ht:6'7"
Wt:180 lbs
Class:2013 (High School)

Needs to be more aggressive consistently but he is a good athlete and can can stroke the ball. One of those players with length that Coach Cronin really likes. Needs some strength like nearly all young men do to advance to the next level. The ESPN report mentions his lack of defense, but he does have the tools to be a good defensive player. He just needs to want to be.

Thanks for the help Beast, back to work and don't have the time to apply to recruiting I once had.

Several of the top Class of 2013 prospects in the state of Indiana have already made verbal commitments to colleges.

But in a deep class, there’s still more talent to go around.

And one of those is V.J. Beachem of Fort Wayne.

The 6-foot-7, 180-pound sophomore plays on the talented Eric Gordon 16s team and is looking forward to having colleges coaches watch his development this summer.

"I’ve been hitting the weight room," Beachem said. "I need to work on rebounding and defense and I think the weight room will help both of those areas."

Beachem, who will attend New Haven next year for school after Harding is closed, said he’s ready to take his game to another level for the final two seasons of high school.

"I feel like it is coming for me," he said. "I know I still have a lot of work to do. But I want to keep working hard."

Beachem said he has one scholarship offer - Purdue - but he also noted that "a lot of schools are looking," at him in the recruiting process.

The schools he named were: Butler, Indiana, Purdue, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Xavier, Notre Dame and Cincinnati.

No worries Jeff I don't mind helping out. This kid is going to be big time and thanks for adding

Fort Wayne New Haven standout junior V.J. Beachem is one of the top uncommitted standouts in the state of Indiana.

But the 6-foot-7 Beachem said he’s getting closer to a decision.

“I would say it’s starting to speed up,” he said. “I am still taking my time right now. But when I make my decision, I don’t think it will be a whole lot longer before I am ready to make my decision.

“Whenever I feel it’s the best thing for me and that I am comfortable with my decision, that’s when I will make it.”

Beachem listed Indiana, Butler, Purdue, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Xavier, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Minnesota, Tennessee, Florida and Stanford as schools that are still in the mix.

He said there are “no favorites” but noted, “a few stick out.”
