Tremendous rebounder from the wing position. Grimes routinely pulls down double digit rebounds. He is currently averaging 15.1 ppg and 14.5 rpg. He leads the city in rebounding though he plays on the wing. He shoots55.6% overall from the field, but only 25% from the 3. In fairness he has only shot 20 on the season from distance, but finished his freshman campaign at only 30%, so it is a must he improve his outside shot going forward. George Jackson has done a really good job building a relationship with Austin and identifying him early.

The question was simple. 'Which current Bearcat do you think you would play like in college?'

The answer was not.

"I would say between Cashmere Wright, Dion Dixon, and Darnell Wilks," said Grimes. "I can dribble like Cash."

Before the proton pack charged Grimes continued to dissect his paralleled talents he broke in with a fourth Bearcat.

"And (Sean) Kilpatrick too," said Grimes. "Because they can all do something like my game. Cause of the way he gets to the hole and scores. He has a nice midrange game too. My midrange game is kind of good too."

Wilks has the leaping ability of Grimes. That comparison is plain. While Wilks typically uses his hops to supply insane dunks, Grimes gets vertical pursuing errant shots. No one rebounds better than Austin. Even football recruit Adolphus Washington trails Grimes in boards despite the fact that Grimes gives up 45 pounds and three inches.

How a 6'3" wing can haul in 14.7 rebounds a night is unfathomable. Until you catch a game in person.

I would like to see Mick reel this kid in. It's important to keep quality Cincinnati talent at home.

14.7 rebounds for a wing!!??? Holy crap!

Definitely one to keep an eye on. He's stayed under the radar so far. It sounds to me as though he's feeling UC at this point. We'll see what happens over the next couple of years if he starts to blow up as he continues to develop.

Only a soph.

Cincinnati def has some talent for 2013. Devin Williams, Grimes, Johnson Jr., Wingfield.

The 'Cats have to lock up at least one of those four. It's still a long way away so you never know how a kid will develop but there is a ton of potential in the 'Nati in the coming years.

Are there any 2012 locals that are getting a look at this point?

Willie Moore, Adolphus Washington, Giovanni McKnight from Middletown and Deontae Hawkins from Dayton.

I wouldn't say they have to lock up any of those guys. Way too early to tell how they will progress. Doesn't matter if they're from Cincy.

Adolphus going to pursue a basketball career in college or football? I know he's good enough to do either.

Adolphus is going to play football, probably at OSU. I doubt he'd be good enough to play basketball at a high major d1.

Agree about Adolphus and with your first statement as well.
