How much do you know about the kid or are you basing it strictly on his star rating?

Considering the guy who coached and recruited the players who got us to this point seems to think he is worth offering. I'm trying to understand how that is pathetic.

We have other guys that we have offered of recent that seems way more legit than this kid. That's the only thing I'm hung up on, but hey, I'm sitting in a cube Monday - Friday. Coaches know a million times more than me.

Look at it this way if we are offering he must have value. Mick's is good at finding talent everyone else is over looking.

I haven’t watched enough film to give much of an opinion on him yet. From what I’ve seen so far he’s tall, athletic, and has some perimeter skills. As far as rankings go I could care less. Mick and his staff have earned my trust enough that I know whoever they bring in is going to contribute and only get better. I think we’d all love the top recruits to come to Clifton but we don’t and I’m okay with that.

Yeah I'm with you. Our staff knows what they want and they know how to turn over every rock to find it. It cracks me up when people want to use on the court success to finally get the recruits rolling in! Isn't that backwards? Lol. Doesn't on court success suggest that the recruits are already rolling in? You'd think people would learn after just having T Moore in the same situation last class. Very strange.

I know I don't speak for everyone but I am very happy recruiting student athletes. Watching these kids grow athleticly and as people is what gives me the most enjoyment. Seeing them receive their diplomas and represent our University in the real world means much more to me then having a one and done player sit through class for a semester and then leave.

Don't forget that Washington, Evans, and Clark who are leading this team were all top 100 recruits. I think there is more to rankings than some want to believe. Yes there are outliers but it is more of an exception and a rare occurrence. I mean Brooks can't even finish around the rim and he's 6'10".

I'm not worried about rankings either but when you are hearing Frankie just drained 8 3s the other night and holds offers from Texas A&M and someone else I cant remember and hearing some Juco names that shooting very well from behind the arc and are playing extremely well and hold offers from some very good school then you hear this dude compared to Shaq Thomas, shooting 50% from the free throw line, and has offers from St Bonnie and Buffalo you don't get too excited about it. I get it the T Moore comparison which is great. Again, I just feel as of late we are hearing some serious names including Tevian Jones, so I wouldn't be thrilled about this unless it was late summer and we needed someone, but hey prove me wrong.

I am never thrilled about recruiting. I am thrilled about team performance. Heck where is Lawrence playing at. If memory serves me this place was a buzz when we landed him. We are 6 in the country and have made the dance 7 straight years. We have a shot at being undefeated at home for two consecutive seasons. I will give Mick the benefit of the doubt when it comes to recognizing talent and how it fits into his system.

Yes I did and first off Washington was not our recruit. He was a transfer. Both Evans and Clark were not highly sought after recruits when Mick began the process. They were under the radar talents that he found and recruited.

Clearly our coaches rank them all in the same group. If we use both scholarships, I'll assume we are getting the help we think we need.

The thing I realized is this:

I think we've been looking at this backwards for Cronin's whole tenure. Every time we land an off the radar player we hear, "I thought Cronin had a reputation as a great recruiter". And the answer I think is...he does. But it's in a way revolving around having an eye for talent, rather than closing the deal on 5 McD AA like Calipari. That's what makes our coach a great recruiter. This kid here is from Maryland? I bet if he comes to UC, all the coaches in that region will kick themselves for not being able to see it and not knowing how to get out of him what our coaches can.
