Rothstein just reported that Michigan finally manned up and agreed to do the home and home with us. They coming to fifth third next year on December 17th.

Next year shaping up to be another good year for OOC games.

Mich-Home
@iowa state
@Butler
Xavier-Home

Then Hall of fame tip off classic with 3 other teams including Duke, penn state and Rhode Island

Coach Cronin has done a great job on scheduling. I'm very pleased with our out of conference slate. Some of the cupcakes are very cup-cakey, but you can always count on good tests in at least half the out of league schedule.

I will def. be getting tickets for the Butler game. I've always wanted to watch a game at Hinkle. I've watched Hoosier's too many times not to.

Hopefully we win some of our OCC quality games this time around...

Our OOC SOS is 137. Wouldn't consider that great scheduling.

He's done a good job getting some big games like the iowa st and butler ones and the upcoming Michigan one. But needs to find the cupcakes with at least better than 250 rpis. The southwestern Louisianas (rpi:348) and Morgan states (rpi:339) of the sceadule are what kills our rpi and ooc. We also got unlikely with Robert Morris this year, they were decent last year but are killing us this year with a sub 300 rpi

Adding duke to that makes that list a very good ooc in terms of big games. Duke will be at least preseason top 5. I assume allen and kennard would return and they already have signed the number 1 and 2 overall recruits signed for next year per espn.

Any idea how much it would it help if the 3 biggest cupcakes were swapped out for teams at the top of those same conferences?

Our SOS including conference games will be 78. If we dropped Morgan State, Arkansas Pine-Bluff and SE Louisiana replace them with Hampton, Southern and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (the top 3 RPI teams in those three leagues). Our SOS would rise to 40.

We didn't schedule SE Louisiana and Ark Pine Bluff did we? Weren't they part of that tournament we were in with GW.

If we didn't schedule them, Morgan State is the only team in the 300's we scheduled. I agree it's probably a bit unlucky Robert Morris is 271.

edit: i used kenpom numbers here, didn't look up rpi.

Good to know. Thanks for looking that up.

There are too many division 1 teams. Playing the 200th ranked team as opposed to the 350th ranked team shouldn't matter because a good team will beat either easily. But by God the rpi and sos really gets skewed.

I have specifically asked the athletic department about this in the past and have been told the better low majors of the world know this and charge WAY more for a buy game than those 300+ teams.

For the absolute bottom of the barrel conferences like the SWAC, the problem is slightly different. 1 of the them might be ok on RPI in any given year (rest really bad) but good luck picking which one.

Correct the two home games before Thanksgiving (Arkansas-Pine Bluff & SE Louisiana) were apart of the Barclays Classic and we had no say in those two games.

We also thought Nebraska was a real team.

Bad thing is; I think Nebraska is better then they are playing. But I think they have like 11 new players on the team or something so that explains the inconsistency.

They played Miami really tough and blew it at the end. I really wish they'd finish strong
