I will maintain that we will need to win 2 out of 3 to be safely in. I do think 3 more total (including Big East tourny would be sufficent as well).

22 would be a really strong number.

@USF - A desperate team looking for a big win. Hate noon games because we never, EVER play well for them. This is a dangerous game. It reminds me of a couple of years ago when we were trying to break through and make the tourny and never could get over that hump, well, we will see if USF can get over that hump.

Marq - What an atmosphere it will be. Senior night. Top 10 team. Tourny bid possibly on the line. Wow.

Nova - Senior night on the road is brutal no matter how you cut it. They would love to play spoiler.

I think we are capable of winning all 3 but could lose all 3. You win at USF and home vs Marq I think we are locked.

My prediction.

Win @USF by 7

Win vs Marq by 3

Loss @ Nova by 5

22-9 finish and a 5 seed in the Big East tourny.

Win one, lose one.

23-10 overall. Around 68 RPI.

10 seed.

South Florida on Sunday is huge!

Only positive about Nova also being senior night, is at least they don't have any seniors that get minutes, so maybe it wont be as emotional of a game for them as a normal senior night.

If we beat USF and win one more (as you predicted) I am guessing we get that 4 seed. GT is the only team that could beat us out (if they win out). They have to play Marq away and ND at home. If we beat USF we own ALL the tie breakers.

UC controls their destiny for the 4 seed, if Marquette slips up once (other than UC) they could get the 3 seed. And if Notre Dame were to lose twice, they could get the #2 seed.

Go Bearcats!

IMO, UC just has to win one more game to make the NCAA tournament. (Including the Big East tournament). Bubble is horrible, like always. Can't keep a team out that has this many good wins, especially when comparing the good wins to other bubble teams. I think 10 seed sounds about right, rather be that then a 8/9.

Frankly, I would be ok with an 11 seed. I think UC could beat any team that would come on the 6 line and would have a good shot against anyone on the 3 line as well. 10 would be ok too. I just wouldn't want to see UK in round 2. UK in the sweet 16 or later would be fine.

I would like to avoid 1 and 2 seeds as long as possible. I wouldn't mind an 11 seed to be honest, because this team clearly better than that. I am thinking they'll work themselves to a 8/9 seed, which is the worst case.

They could also work themselves into a 6 seed. I think that is the ceiling. I think that would take winning out in the regular season (which would give them a double bye) and then winning at least 1 in the Big East Tourney (maybe 2). That would make the Bearcats either 24-9 or 25-9 going into the NCAA Tourney with at least 6 or 7 Top 50 wins. We were all surprised with the seeding the Bearcats got last year, you never know what could happen. These next 3 weeks will be a blast!

I am actually more worried about the USF game than the Marquette game. It is at noon, we don't play well there historically, they HAVE to have it, it is sandwiched between games with top 25 teams. One of which is our 1A rival, the other a pay back game. Just so much at work here that it concerns me.

Thats a good point and was my mind set a couple weeks ago with Xavier (Now, its just cross my fingers and hope things fall there way) 11 is better then a 10, IMO. 6 seed then a 3 seed is better then 7/2. And UC has the weapons to make a run. More importantly, they have the defense to make a run.

USF is a team that feels slighted by the tourney experts and will have a boulder size chip on their shoulder. It's not as glitzy as the Louisville game but the kind of game that tests toughness and focus of a team down the stretch. We need Yancy to continue his steady play in this one.

I think 2 wins gets it done (whether in the regular season or the Big East tournament). This is based on nothing scientific. But if we only win 1 or 0 and lose our first Big East tournament game, I don't think you can consider us a lock.

I agree. 22 wins on Selection Sunday will get them in. If the two wins come in the next three then we are looking at the double-bye and if we happened to lose our first game it would likely be to another tournament team. No harm done. If we only win one of the next three then we'll likely need to win our first game at the Mecca because a loss there could be a bad loss depending on the team.

Playing at noon sucks, but believe it or not, I'd rather play on the road at noon than at home. At home the kids are up all night with friends and not focused on the game. On the road your opponent has that problem and you're holed up in a hotel room.
