How about this list of Beast coaches??

Calhoun
Boeheim
Pitino
Huggins
Lavin
Dixon
Wright
Thompson

That's just the short list. I heard one article reference to "Murderer's Row". Not only does your players have to be good enough to beat their players (which is already hard enough)...you have to make sure your coach doesn't get outmatched in the meantime. That's some scary stuff there...but...we've done okay against some of them in the past...so their bark may be worse than their bite:) Every year you have to face these guys...aye aye aye.

Hopefully Cronin can add his name to that list...it all starts this year.

I just did a quick search for the top 50 NCAA bb coaches. Bleacher Report came up...not that it's anything official. Lavin wasn't mentioned. Neither was Cronin:) But Mike Brey was. So were both Dayton and Xavier coaches...argghhhh. Out of the top 50...7 of our coaches make the top 20!!

38 Mike Brey
19 Rick Pitino
18 John Thompson
15 Bobby Huggins
13 Jay Wright
10 Jamie Dixon
09 Jim Calhoun
04 Jim Boeheim

Bobby Huggins and Rick Pitino 15th and 19th nationally and 5th and 7th in the Beast. Tough crowd.

How Rick Pitino is ranked 19th is beyond me. I'm not a Pitino fan period, but you're talking about a guy that has taken 3 schools to the final four and has a national championship. Chirs Mack and Brian Gregory? C'mon! Mack a one year coach who inherits a pretty good team with senior leadership. Brian Gregory won the NIT, but had NCAA talent. I don't get it. Bob Huggins should be in the top 10. He's taken two schools to final fours and has been a winner everywhere he's been. Took WVU to the final four last season basically without a true center or point guard for parts of the season.

That list by Bleacher Report definitely leans towards recent trends rather than length of service and overall body of work. It seemed like more of a trendy list to me. You can have your trendy...I will take veterans Huggs or Pitino any day over recent trends.
