This is a bunch of garbage UC isnt ranked in the AP poll, recieved 63 votes which puts us 30th. Time to prove the voters wrong.
Notables:
Iowa st: 7th
Uconn: 20th
Butler 24th
SMU: (112 votes) 27
XU: (12 votes) puts them at like 39 or 40

Im not even gonna be mad about them being unranked.

I did some quick research from last year and found that:

8 of the 26 teams (they had a tie for 25) finished unranked.
Only 3 teams finished in the ranking Ap had them in the preseason.
Only 5 of there top 10 was correct, with 2 of the other five finishing unranked.

Huge Duds for the AP preseason poll:
Syracuse
Uconn
Florida (who they had ranked #7)
Texas (who they had ranked #10)
Michigan
Nebraska

Oh yea for sure, we do.

But I love when the Bearcats are the under dogs. Something about being overlooked is what makes this group of guys tick.

Interested to hear what makes you guys think we deserve to be ranked. We didn't finish last season ranked in the Top 25 and it's not like we have a top 25 recruiting class coming in. So why should we jump into the rankings??

**I agree it doesn't mean a thing, just interested to hear why you feel that way other than just being a fan of UC.

IMO because we have our top 6 scorers returning from a top 32 team last year.

For me its:
a Good recruiting class coming into a team with its top 6 leading scorers from last year returning who also have there head coach returning as well.

They have evidence to prove that they won't be worse than last year, and multiple reasons showing why they will be better with not only new comers, but with 1st year players getting better and having the voice there used to hearing back to coaching them.

I mean I also compare to the teams who did make it:
I think were better than
Purdue
Michigan
Butler

And thats at minimum. Im willing to bet UC will be in the top 25 by seasons end. Whereas I could see some of these teams not lasting a week

Cincinnati was ranked #21/#22 in 2011-12 and #24/#24 in 2012-13. Last year was the first year since 2008-09 that Cincinnati was not ranked for at least one week. We'll be in the polls within the first 2-3 weeks.

On a few runs last year we received multiple votes but then would have a loss before the new polls came out and kept us from getting in.

This year, if they are going to take any conference losses it needs to be from Uconn, SMU or at worst Tulsa.

No loses to ECU, USF or UCF or Tulane

In Non conference: if we lose it needs to be against ISU, Butler or XU (please God no)

I just don't want them to take any terrible losses this year. I think if they stay focused they won't have a problem

I think we'll be ranked too, I can't say I know too much about Michigan, Purdue or Butler's squads but from a pure talent on paper standpoint I'd have to think they have the more highly rated teams. Not saying their players are better than ours but probably more highly ranked in terms of potential talent.

A lot of the people voting for UC probably don't know too much about our team. I think it's for the reasons you listed above that we are near the upper echelon of other teams receiving votes. IMO UC is ranked right where they should be and it'll be up to them to determine whether they move up or down depending on their play. Bottom line is this team needs to find a way to score points if they want to take it to the next level, let's hope they're up for the challenge.

Some serious geographical bias from me I know, but Purdue, Butler, and Cincy all scare me more than 5-10 teams ranked ahead of them.

Titus, if you don't know, was a walk-on for OSU and wrote a book/ wrote for Grantland. Great follow on Twitter. Like seeing him throw Cincy's name out there and I agree with him 100%.

I think our team having so much talent back, improvements of those players in the off season, and the incoming talent all means we should be ranked somewhere between 20-30. Thing is, not many outside of the UC fan base know about the weight improvements of the players. Those making these rankings know about UK and Duke getting the top ranked recruits, that's it. Not saying we should be top ten, but in the 20-30 range is fine with me for now. When we beat ISU, they will get the national attention this team deserves.

I honestly feel we might have a top 15 team here. I don't think we should be ranked there now nor do I care too much about being ranked now. I don't think it will be long before we are though.
