If the season stopped today what national award possibilities would our team, players, or coaches be nominated for? Not necessarily winning...just nominated.

Here are some I was thinking about...

Cronin...Coach of the Year
SK...All American
JJ...Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player
TR...All defense team (if it exists)

Cronin is a very real possibility for coach of the year. SK has a decent shot at All-American, probably not 1st team but I think he'll be somewhere on their lists.

Most impressive to me is that if the season were to end today we'd have 2 of our starters on the All Conference team. Both JJ and SK will be 1st team all AAC and that's pretty strong.

Yah...and I think JJ and TR both have a shot at Defensive POY in conference

I don't think TR has a shot. He plays very good defense but he doesn't block a lot of shots or get a ton of steals and those are the stats that usually get a player the DPOY awards.

Conference Awards (thus far)-
Coach of the Year: Mick Cronin, Larry Brown would be the closest

Player of the Year: Sean Kilpatrick, I don't know after him...maybe Jackson, Napier, Russ Smith, etc

Defensive Player of the Year: Justin Jackson, this isn't even close

1st Team All-Conference: G Sean Kilpatrick, G Shabazz Napier, G Russ Smith, F Justin Jackson, F Montrezl Harrell

(that would be my guess...many others in consideration: Thomas from Houston, Jackson from Memphis, Dalton Pepper from Temple, etc)

Sean just won player of the week for I believe the third time this year averaging 23 points 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

I think you are probably right TLH. But his name should at least be thrown in the hat...because he deserves it. He's not just "very good" he is an outstanding defender.

When you look at our two big men in terms of D...they have to be the best tandem in the country. They are averaging about 4 blocks a game between them, probably about 3 steals, and they can both jump out and switch on a guard.

These two guys anchor one of, if not THE best, man to man D's in the country.
