The four team playoff got its final approval
http://www.businessweek.com/news/20...ts-ratify-four-team-college-football-playoffs

Under the new format, a second tier will be created, known as the Group of Five, which will comprise a demoted Big East along with Conference USA, the Mountain West, the Sun Belt and the Mid-American, ESPN said. The highest-ranked team will get an automatic invitation to an at-large BCS bowl.

So to clarify, there is room for 1 team now from The Big East, MWC, CUSA, Sun Belt, and MAC for an at large BCS bowl game.

Saw that. Big East prez said he loved it and it unanimously passed vote. Seemed surprising to me but I'm sure there was no bargaining power. Great news for all those conferences except the Big East. Officially associated with the irrelevants.

The "group of five" can make one huge power conference and negotiate a monster tv deal. If they have to split revenue money between five conferences and determine bcs automatic bid, why not combine and end confusion

All this conference talk which is never ending is really mind draining. It sucks money is the root of all the bs. Ask WVU how moving to the Big 12 is helping their football program lmao! They might not even make a bowl game.

Get ready for more talk then. I would imagine every major school in the so called "Group of 5" is going to do everything they can do claw their way into one of the big leagues. Rumors are everywhere about "This team" and "That team". Just this week, Maryland to the Big 10 rumors are everywhere. Last week it was Rutgers. Who knows maybe next week it will be Cincinnati. This offseason should be pretty chaotic

As for WVU, I think they'll be fine. Yes they are taking their lumps on the field, but I think over the next 10 years they'll adjust accordingly. Not to mention they stand to make substantially more money in the Big 12 than the Big East with the potential for more BCS bowl games starting 2014

This is precisely why ul and Rutgers are gone soon

I wouldn't be surprised if Boise backs out either after 1 season

They have no where to go. The TV deals of the other 5 conferences are set for the next 8 to 15 years. Adding members would mean the current members would get less TV dollars. The only school that adds value to any of the 5 conferences is Notre Dame football and they are not joining a conference in football.

The Power 5 are not going to add any members for the next 8 to 15 years. Adding members would cost the schools in the Power 5 money as the only school not currently in a Power 5 Conference that adds value is Notre Dame football.

Incorrect. The new Sugar bowl(also known as champions bowl) format that was just accepted requires the big 12 to have a ccg. That means they will add one more.

The big 10 is not going to sit idly by either

Prime candidates are Louisville, Rutgers, Byu, usf, and Cincy

You are wrong!!!!!!!

Nothing in the Champions Bowl agreement requires the Big 12 to have a CCG.

Texas, which loves money and controls the Big 12, wants to split the big check 10 ways, not 12 ways.

It is you who is wrong. You'll see. By 2014 the big12 will have two more teams

The sec demanded it in negotiations

Maryland and Rutgers in serious talks with the Big 10.

The University of Maryland is in serious negotiations to join the Big Ten Conference, sources told ESPN on Saturday.

If Maryland goes from the ACC to the Big Ten, Rutgers of the Big East is expected to follow suit. The addition of Maryland and Rutgers would give the Big Ten 14 members as the league gears toward negotiations on a new media rights deal when its first-tier rights expire in 2017.

Dana O'Neil is tweeting that an announcement of Maryland and Rutgers joining the big 10 could come monday

A 50 million exit fee to leave the acc!!! Maryland is a bad football team and struggling with money and they can go the big 10 just like that!! This realignment stuff is a joke now. Maryland won't be any better either

I personally have a hard time believing that the $50 mil exit fee will hold up in court. Just seems completely shady the way it was activated and it seems punitive. Maryland has stated they feel the same way

You have to believe at this point that Uconn, USF, and UL are doing everything they can to talk to anyone who will listen. Hopefully UC is in that mix. If Rutgers leaves, I would imagine there could be a free for all for the marquee Big East teams.

I actually agree with Bearcat Mick on this on(I know its disturbing) that the other conferences, particularly the Big 12, won't just sit back and watch the Big 10 go to 14...Especially with the Cincinnati, Louisville, Tampa, and northeast markets up for grabs

Of course I'm right. Ralph and Jason want you to believe that everyone in the BE is happy and holding hands when in reality everyone Is scared waiting to see who jumps ship first
