The problem with this team is that Cronin is not putting the players in the position to be successful. Example

Shaq Thomas is not at 3 point shooter so why does he roam around the 3 point line all game?? Why isn't he coming off down screens where he can curl into the lane and finish at the rim with his athletic abilities. We need to push the ball more in transition so that he can attack the defense. He stands around the 3 point line and shoots 3 we don't need him doing that we need him being athletic where are the alley- opp plays for him? There are ways where he can be effective but Cronin doesn't make the game easier for him.

Kevin Johnson is not a ball handler! So why does he have the ball so much where he is allowed to turn the ball over 5 times in the game? There should be a limit to how many dribbles he takes. 2-4 dribble max and he has to pass the ball. Kevin is a spot up shooter at best. Let guys like Troy,Justin, Cobb make plays for him. He looks bad every time he dribbles the ball. So make the game easier for him by telling him to go to the corner spot up and shoot the ball every time your open. Simple coaching!!

Troy is our best playmaker but there aren't many pick and rolls being called where he is being freed up so that he can attack the others team big men get in the lane and make plays for himself and others. He has a big strong body where he could finish around the basket at a high rate.for some reason he stands around the top of the key pounding the ball til the end of the shot clock and takes a contested 3.
He's a great spot up shooter he isn't that good shooting the ball off the dribble for 3. Too big and too strong to settle for 3s!

Gary Clark looked as if he could be a future all American last year. He now looks as if that will not be in his future. He seems uncomfortable not aggressive. He doesn't look for his shot. He gets a offensive rebound and passes it out every time like its a hot potato. He looked much better when Larry Davis was the head guy. You are supposed to get better after the year he had not backtrack. Player development at Uc sucks!! No one gets better. Gary needs to develop a 15 foot jump shot or a face up game. Taking 10 dribbles with your back to the basket then throwing up a brick is not going to work at high D1 level it will work against mid major teams who's center is 6'5 that's it. The other teams do scout!!!
Just my thoughts

Shaq is certainly athletic but I agree he should not be on the wing. unfortunately he is not a true 4 either. His rebounding is bad and to really utilize him he needs to get down the floor on the wing going to the basket. Unfortunitely we have not rebounded well at all this year.

KJ. Telling a guy you can only dribble a certain amount of times is not the answer. I do like the make the game easier for him but its hard to do when Cobb is not much better. Against X If he would have dribbled into a baseline double team one more time I would have broke my TV set.

Clark is still contributing on the glass. I shutter to think where we would be without his rebounding. Has he scored like I thought he would, no. That is a product of our perimeter shooting being God awful. Need to knock down a jumper to create some room inside.

We aren't giving Clark the ball enough He needs more touches. And I agree if he wasn't the rebounding the ball as well as he is it would be easy to say that we don't need him on the floor. Need guys like Caupain and Ellis to be leaders and get this team where it needs to be. Too much talent to not be able to win big games.

The problem with the Shaq thing is; He can't dribble in traffic. And he has developed an outside shot this season. He is far to turnover prone to drive it to the lane. I wish that wasn't the case, but it is

All I'm saying is that we need to put guys in position where they can be effective where the game is easier for them and they don't have to make them self look bad. That's all! This team is young and will take bumps along the way. We have a talented team but being honest there are things that guys aren't good at and we shouldn't have them doing the things they are bad at the entire game!! We don't have a player with multiple assets to their game we just don't so if we focus on letting everyone do what they are great then we will be fine! So if you are going to have kj handle the ball a lot throughout the game have him work on it in the offseason not in the actual game. Does he look comfortable handling the ball?? No leads me to think that wasn't part of his game he was working on so why try it in the game?

Newsflash: if you are a Division I guard, you are going have to dribble the ball and be able to make simple passes. What position is Mick supposed to put him in?

Hide in the corner and rain three's like Field Williams lol. KJ has had some bonehead plays, especially in the X game, but he's one of those players like Cobb that when he's hot, he can score in bunches. I don't think his ball handling is all that bad, several times this year, he's pump faked and dribbled inside the three for a nice jumper. But it seems too often that he thinks he has to shoot/score because he's coming off the bench

Exactly he comes in the game trying to do too much we need him to take the shots when he is open use shot fake to get into the lane one dribble pull up. Simple basketball he dribbles to go no where then just throws the ball to the other team. As a coach you are supposed to see that and tell him that he doesn't need to do that help the team win. Your shooting a high percentage from 3 what's wrong being a reliable shooter? No he wants to try to make something happen using the dribble that isn't want you are good at so why keep doing it?

NEVER see sharpshooters dribbling ball off their feet. KJ needs catch and shoot or swing the ball. If that's too much to handle he needs find new team

Still only dribbled once on pump fakes

You must be a huge fan of Mo Egger and Lance to make a moronic statement like that. Yeah, we here at Cincinnati just have fans that are way too demanding and we're all stupid. You think Mick Cronin would have lasted 10 years at Kentucky with this track record?? And it's not just Kentucky, I could probably name 25 other schools with fan bases that would have run him out of town by now so get over yourself with your asinine comments.

Quit acting like every time someone criticizes our coach they're being unreasonable. There's certainly criticism that is deserved and some that probably isn't. If anything the fans in this city don't expect enough from their teams.

Hate both. I am smart enough to realize the sacrifices he's made to the program and that he has built a solid program. Doesn't mean I don't criticize him...this season, I have no clue what he is doing coaching wise.
