Also, there is a ton of chatter (chatter? really??) about the Presidents of the Big East really moving this Big East Network along. The Big East is currently making a list of highly populated areas (NYC and Philly along with others) that are saying they would put the "Big East Network" on their basic cable package.

I still like the idea of merging the Big East Network with the NFL network. That would put a ton of pressure on the cable companies to make NFL network avaliable for everyone.

Why the Big East? Because we have so many schools in NFL markets. Cincy, Philly, NYC, Tampa, Pitt and many other schools in areas with high interest in the NFL.

NFL Network could have 1 game on saturday dedicated to a Big East game and could be given 3-5 basketball games per week. ESPN gives the Big East tons of money to air its basketball, we could still use that money but also use our own network for profit.

Dont be surprised at all if you hear something soon.

The Big East has former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue helping them with this project. Taglibue is a Georgetown graduate and a member of their Board of Trustees. IIRC, Tagliabue started the NFL Network.

If the Big Ten Network model is in place, the Big East will coup a lot of $$$ in advertisements on the station. Consider the Big East Netowrk would be distrubuted through some of the largest markets in the country. Even if people aren't watching it the Big East will still make $$$.
