That shit pissed me off. First time i've seen that article. I certainly believe in freedom of speech and everyone being allowed to have their opinion... but I wouldn't mind planting a Yancy Gates type haymaker to his jaw right about now.

How does everyone else feel, in retrospect, about the way the situation was handled?

I'm not denying any fault regarding the fight. I just think it's weak that he calls into question the integrity of Mick and essentially the University.

I don't think either team wanted to 'bait' each other into an embarrassing brawl. Tensions have been high the last 5 years. Yancy and Frease hated each other. Mack and Mick hate each other. A lot of the players were recruited by both schools. Then you have the fans have taken it to ridiculous levels of hate. Smack talking has been acceptable from both sides the last 3-4 years. Derrick Brown got tossed for throwing an elbow. CJ Anderson has always been out of control. Lance Stephenson cursed out Chris Mack mid game.

It was building up and last year was the perfect storm

As for the article, I agree with some points and disagree with others. I do think Mick Cronin came off as a bit of a fake and had a performance that was a little over the top. however he still came off a lot better than Mack.

Revenge will be sweet this year. Xavier is going to be lucky to be .500

I heard from a loyal Xavier supporter for many years that Mack was in a hurry to leave after the Shootout and let Tu and Lyons conduct press conference as Mack went to dinner with his parents. He wasn't even in the arena at the time of the presser.

There is no way that is true. As weak as you might think Mack is, no head coach in the country would leave 10 minutes after a game to go to dinner. It was a poor decision to send them out to the press conference and that may well be on Mack, but what you said is untrue.

As for the real start to the fight..........well that started when the refs allowed the Norwood Gangsta's to taunt UC's players, coaches, and coaches wives. Classy.......well actually classless.

I hate Xavier more than ever now. The flying under the radar act everytime one of theirs gets in trouble or something like the brawl happens has made me sicker and sicker over the years. Then Mack is a complete idiot for scheduling a dinner that soon after the shootout. Good thing the game didn't go into overtime or I guess the assistant coach would have had to taken over....Mack is an idiot in either scenario.
