Watching the National Championship game I only have 1 question? on the last drive when Auburn's RB rolled over the defensive player and kept running, how on earth did they not call that down? It was clear the RB's wrist hit the ground- and thus he would have been down. Same exact thing was called against Arkansas against OSU- guys wrist hit the ground and play got overturned. Should have been overturned in this game....Ridiculous.

Happened to UC vs OU when Pead broke out and ran 70 yards to a TD. It was called back.

I did not think at any point that I was watching the 2 best teams in the nation last night.

The problem is, they try to distinguish between a hand and a wrist when its almost impossible to tell which is really hitting the ground. I think on that call, they are saying the back of his hand was on the ground, not his wrist. Almost impossible to tell the difference though IMO.

Wrist was easily on the ground, but lets be honest, Cam Newton should have never been allowed to play any way. The NCAA is a complete joke.

I also believe the NCCA is a complete joke, but maybe not for this controversy. Is there any proof Cam knew about his dad's misdeeds? If not, let's not punish the son for the sins of the father. It's not his fault his dad's a scumbag. If we ruled every athlete with a shady dad ineligible for play, we'd be pretty short on athletes.

Tell that to Reggie Bush.

I was thinking the same thing. However I think the ball has to be in that hand. If the ball is the hand that the wrist hits then it is considered that the ball hit the ground...Otherwise I think its the elbow

Wrist is down either way. I am 95 percent sure Peads run was called back due to his off the ball wrist hitting.

The wrist is considered down whether the ball is in that hand or not. I have watched the play several times and I can't definitively say that his wrist was down. Oregon players didn't play to the whistle. Their fault.

Not true, because had they tackled the dude again, but the refs thought he was down they would have thrown a flag for "unnecessary roughness" or late hit. Sometimes the refs are late to blow the whistle, especially when everyone assumes someone was down.
