Thought this was interesting and didnt know where to post it. I thought it would get more views in the basketball section. If its in the wrong place my bad but heres the link it would make sense if there was indeed anything to it. It probably means nothing but adding byu and cinci would make sense for the big 12 in many ways. It would give west virginia a rival and partner in the east which they were promised and byu makes sense for obvious reasons even tho big 12 has said no because of the no sunday games thing. But anyway heres the link

I don't think we really even unpacked the suitcase when we landed in the AAC. Ready for that phone call!

Really seems like that Longhorn Network is keeping us out. If Texas doesn't have that, then they would want a Big12 Network. But, they make way more with their own and won't budge. Don't blame them.

University of Cincinnati has nothing culturally in common with any of the Big 12 schools. We are an urban university in a pro-sports town, all the Big 12 schools are in college towns that worship those universities and they are the only show in town.

Yep, agreed NTS. As someone who is still in school, it's sad overhearing what the current students say about UC Athletics. Now, the example I had is escaping my mind, but I think we honored Blount this year during halftime of a game. Ten or so students around me had no idea who he was. Granted, I was born in 1993 so I don't remember him playing. But, if the students don't see Kenyon, SK or Justin Jackson being honored, most of them don't have a clue who they are.

EDIT: I am now thinking it was Fortson. Same thing though. I 100% don't recall seeing him play, but I know about him and how dominate he was. Still, a shame that current students don't know the history and I feel like, with being in the pro sports town, UC's basketball history is slowly losing it's glamour.

What you are experiencing is the "apathy" that has developed around our program over the last 10 years. The best example is many of the incredibly low opinions and expectations of our program that come from people posting on this site. Why would anyone young go back and study our phenomenal tradition and history when they are growing up in this current era? It doesn't surprise me that nobody knows who our great players were. Especially, the students, who for the most part haven't supported Cronin and only show up in numbers for three or four big games a year.

Or, the students don't generally care too much about UC basketball. I consider myself a huge UC basketball fan. Obviously, as I am posting on this site. Now, I don't know every undergrad student but can assure you, out of the myriad of people I do no, no one goes to the games unless it's a marquee match up. My housemates don't watch the games on TV. However, every Sunday people are watching the Bengals. Or the Browns for whatever reason, guess if you are from Cleveland. Cincinnati is not a college sports town and that's my main point. If UC is good, like after the XU brawl run we went on, then students take notice. A Saturday afternoon game versus Tulane? Nobody is going besides the die hards.
