Who all is going to this game? I am going to be there in the student section with my brother. I hope there is a decent turnout. This team deserves it.

Last game I walked in and everyone turned and looked at me, took off there hats and everything.. (some may claim i was standing under the American flag during the anthem, but lets be real here, a legend had entered)

40 Minutes. Great game yesterday from the 'Cats. Lots of encouraging signs to build off of.

Yup. I was in the student section last night and some of the most encouraging signs to me were:

1. Cash looking to shoot. The kid can fill it up and he has a nice jumper. He just needed some confidence. The deep three on the opening possession really gave the entire team a lift.

2. Dixon Breaking out - Dion had a poor first half but after Mick got on him hard at halftime, he had a breakout second half. 4-6 from 3 and more aggression offensively was huge. He had some really nice hands in making several steals off the trap and press.

3. Yancy being, well, Yancy (the new Yancy) - Yancy was assertive and showed a lot of leadership on the floor. He had 11 points and 11 boards including a couple dunks in traffic. He played nearly the entire second half and really played a solid game. He looked for his shot but didn't force anything. He was vocal on the floor too. I think we may have found our vocal leader.

4. The offensive ball movement against the zone was impressive. Nearly every shot came from within the flow of the offense and when this team is knocking down threes (12-27; 44%) they are going to be nearly impossible to beat.

5. Half court Pressure Defense - In the IPFW game, it seemed like there wasn't much ball pressure (first 30 minutes) leading to a lot of open looks for the guards from three which they made. Last night Cash, Dixon, and SK were picking up pressure at half court even when they didn't press. They really sped up Florida A&M and got them out of their offensive game plan.

I was in the student section as well. Cash was great everyone agrees on that, hopefully he uses that game as a springboard. Yancy's game has matured so much. He would have settled for 3-5 jumpers yesterday the past two years, instead he passed the rock or took it to the basket. With that said, his jumper looks good this year. Part of that probably has to do with better shot selection from him. The only thing I'd like to see done slightly more moving forward against the zone is penetration. It was there last night but I think there still needs to be more. As far as the defense, Cronin's teams are going to play solid defense and rebound. It's been a cornerstone of this program for decades now and will continue to be. Loved the D last night.
