Please use this thread only for posting info/speculation about possible coaching changes that may occur.
We all appreciate Brian Kelly, and apparently, so do other schools. While I think his best bet is to stay at Cincy, there is speculation that either he, Bob Stoops, or TCU's Patterson are candidates for the ND position.

I think Kelly really enjoys being the coach at Cincy. And even though it wouldn't surprise me if he went to Notre Dame. I think he will stay at Cincy and continue to coach the bearcats.

I'm gonna take the wait & see attitude. There's no sense in getting worked up into a lather about any changes. What happens, happens.

Either choice would not surprise me. Sean Miller left a similiar situation to leave for Arizona. The easiest path for Kelly to the NC is obviously at UC, but HC obviously follow money, ego, legacy as much as anything else. I'm sure he'll do what's best for him and his family.

Honestly I think the only way that Kelly does not end up at ND is if ND does not offer him the position.

I like how classy and straight forward he has been so far.... I cant stand when coaches swear up and down that they are not going anywhere while their wife(usually a hot one) is at home packing bags... Kelly has handled it right ... there are no open coaching jobs right now to talk about so why get into it... the guy is just a class act

I agree w/ that. He and Cronin are good reps for UC. I guess I won't begrudge him going to ND, but he would certainly put the Bearcats on the map as long as he does stay in Clifton.

Kelly Announcement to be Made Next Week

During the Senior Day Fiasco up in the Notre Dame pressbox, it was revealed to me and a few of my sources that Cincinnati's Brian Kelly will indeed be the next head coach of the Fighting Irish next season. Paqui Kelly, Brian's wife, was in Culver, Indiana on Wednesday and Thursday, looking at Culver Military Academy for their two boys (Patrick and Kenzel).

An announcement will be made sometime next week, and after Sunday's press conference of Coach Weis' firing.

Take it (as with all rumors) w/ a grain of salt. Few actually know what is going on, but I thought I would share this.

You got sources ?

This isn't coming from this site, but from an Irish one. Keep in mind, this is the third site I've seen to say essentially the same thing. However, until it's done, I'm not holding my breath at all. There are probably less than 15 people and there families who really know what is going on, and they aren't talking a whole lot.

I also wanted to point out that there is alot of word coming out about Bob Stoops going to ND, so that UC could be safe with Brian Kelly. Obviously, we are going to follow this closely, and will post anything that we deem as potentially valid.

I wonder how much the program might fall if Kelly left. Of course I thought Dantonio was going to be tough to replace ... so what do I know?

As an ND fan, I'd love to see what Kelly could do there.

I honestly think that Bob Stoops will be the next HC of Notre Dame. I do think Brian kelly would be a great hire for Notre Dame. I believe that BK wants to make Cincy into his program and succeed in doing that.

Actually, I think you are both right. Stoops and BK would be a huge get for ND, and I do think that Kelly may want to create his own legacy at UC. We'll find out soon enough.

Kelly would do great at Cincy, and I think he would hurt Ohio State more in recruiting than Notre Dame. Not that he wouldn't beat out Notre Dame for players, but I think he would affect ohio state more with recruiting in Ohio.

He's doing a great job in recruiting. Alex Smith did say that the possibility of BK leaving was one of the reasons why he will prob not attend UC. 3 years ago, he wouldn't have given UC the time of day, so either way....things are looking up in Clifton.
