Could Bearcats start 5-1

Akron is terrible.

NCST is going to be a good test. I dont think they are great but they are a middle of the road ACC school. At home I would hope we can win this game but it is too early to tell.

Miami Oh is defending MAC champ but they are a MAC team. We should dominate them like we did last year. I dont care if it is at Oxford.

Louisville is terrible and that is at PBS. Got to like our chances.

Whatever confidence was lost against UT should be back after Akron. The schedule sets up nice.

Depth in the secondary could be a concern for this team moving forward as Safety Malcolm Murray was lost for the year last Wednesday in practice with a torn ACL.

Wow, that really sucks. We have to anything to get Frey out of the secondary and I thought he should play the rest of the season.

I think 4-2 in that stretch would be good. Then make a bowl, because the defense is soo bad, that would be a good accomplishment.

I think 5-1 is a definite possibility and honestly should be attainable even with a suspect defense. I looked at the first 5 games and thought 4-1 so with now seeing that Louisville will open BE play that is definitely a winnable game. Momentum could be key for this team and wins will definitely build confidence so if they get on a roll who knows what could happen. I still think we have an incredible offense so if the defense starts to build confidence then I think they could make a run at the Big East title again. Will it happen? That still remains to be seen but confidence and momentum can go a long way.

I think we all knew in our heart of hearts that this defense was going to be awful but we all wanted to hope it would be better. I can deal with that.

The play calling both on O and D are absolutely brutal, it is about as vanilla as you get on both sides. The defensive staff needs an overhaul after this season, and Butch may not be too far behind.

I refuse to say it is time for an overhaul before 3 or 4 years in. I agree that the defense needs to improve but it is a little too early to say that the defense hasn't improved at all. I'll make that determination at the end of the season when everything has been said and done.

As for Butch, his recruiting has been very good. I'll hold my judgement until after the end of next year and see where the program is. I think we will see improvement year over year.

Butch's recruiting is the only thing he has done so far that has made me impressed.
