UC was the 3rd team ever to hold DeMarco Murray without a double-digit yardage play. He averaged 2.6 yards on 35 touches.

Follow bearcattalk_com on twitter, you should be already. Follow Paul D too. He is the best in the business.

Derek Wolfe is an animal and this defense is coming together if they can just clean up some mental/schematic errors in the back end... oh and for the love of god, figure out a way to cover the RB when he releases out into the flat. Oklahoma must have gained 100 yards alone through that play last night.

They ran that on just about every first down last night and it went for 6 or 7 yards every time. Overall I was happy with the defense last night, but Oklahoma's QB and their receivers did us a lot of favors. We are still letting guys get way too open with our zone coverage. We need to get back to man coverage. I don't understand letting receivers roam free out there.

Well you have to keep in mind this is UC's third different defensive system in three years... they need to STICK with something and give it time to develop and get better... overall I like the talent in the secondary and if you stick through these hard times, there will be MUCH better times ahead... Tino Sunseri is no Landry Jones... hell, he's no Bill Stull. :D

I agree, but it just seems more logical to me to run man coverage than zone. If I'm running an offense I'm hoping my opponent runs zone on me because it's so much easier to find holes in it. The best defenses are the ones with shutdown corners that allow you to keep everybody up and dare the QB to beat you with his arm. I realize you have to have the playmakers to do that, but a good offense can always find holes in a zone. We have been much improved this year against the run. I like the talent, too and we are very young. Hopefully by next year we'll get back to that ferocious D we all remember going back to the Minter/Dantonio years.
