Hey guys Vcuboy22 here and I was wondering how Deshaun is doing at Cincinnati. He was a vcu recruit for awhile, and I thought he would fit perfectly with us. I thought he could become the next Kent Bazemore(Except going to Odu part haha)

So if anyone would like to say what he likely to contribute to your guys team that would be nice. Also you guys have a good squad with Kilpatrick returning!

He's been hampered by injury but Coach Cronin has said he may already be UC's best on ball defender.

Exactly why I thought he would be great for VCU haha he has defensive ability/instincts already. Exactly how Bazemore was except with Deshaun he has a much better offensive game coming out of high school.

Give us a scouting report of DeShaun from high school.

Well, you guys probably already know but:

Well with a 6'4 frame he can get to the lane at will and finishes well there. He has a good outside shot, but it can get more consistent. He is an ATHLETE defiantly and can jump with the best of them. He is a good defender as your guys coach said too.

I hope he plays a good amount. I was a big fan of his back at Coolidge.

I think he has the potential to be a very good college basketball player. There have been some of the other frosh talked about more but I think Mormon in the end may be the best overall of them all. I love his toughness. The fact is with Kevin Johnson, Troy Caupain and Mormon UC is well set at the guard position for the future.

From the little bit I saw of him in the 2nd preseason game I was impressed. I made it a point to just watch him an entire defensive series and he stuck to his man like glue when his man didn't have the ball. I love this because there are certain players you just can't defend once they have the ball. So your best defense is to keep them from getting the ball. This is what the term "shutdown defender" means to me. Granted it was one series and about 20 seconds so you can't predict his career from that, but I liked what I saw.

I personally Love redshirting players. Especially when they are only going to get 5-10 minutes a game if that. Could he contribute this year? sure he could. But in the long run I see a redshirt benefiting him and the team a lot more

Would Morman's possible redshirt be due to injury or lack of opportunity? I thought leading up to the season he was considered to be one of the most ready to play D-1 defense guys.

Both. He's in the same position as JaQuon was back in the day. Why risk aggravating a groin injury for 5 minutes a game?

If Cronin wants him to red shirt I would say we better red shirt him. I don't think he would make that recommendation to DM without evaluating all possible scenarios.

I can't imagine someone wanting to actually red-shirt so that must be a really hard decision for him to make, but playing behind SK, JD3, and sanders this year would negate him to few minutes. If he does red shirt that shows me a lot out of this kid because it is hard for someone who has worked so hard there whole life to sit out a year and wait, but you are going to be that much better of a player by your senior year if you do sit out. I honestly think he is better than a lot of our players right now, but Cronin feels obligated to play those players because they have put so much time in to the program he would feel bad for sitting them. Morman is a really good player now, I could see him possibly starting next year.

It looks like he has. On Instagram he said game day today wish I could be out there with my brothers.

So I am assuming he has been redshirted

Or he could just be talking about being injured. No doubt it would be a difficult decision to redshirt as an 18 year old kid. Hopefully Sean is counselling him on it; I don't think there's any doubt he has benefitted by sitting out his first year.
