Pa-lease.

Somebody may have, but Dion Dixon most certainly did not declare for the draft- at least not with the intention of staying in.

I have no news on this, but is this the first year that draft camps or try outs are held after the deadline to declare? That isn't a good thing for a lot of players IMO.

This is in no way a bad thing. In fact its good for juniors to get as much information about their pro prospects as possible. But the deadline has been moved way up for players to withdraw (which makes no sense to me). We'll see what happens. I don't read that as dion declaring. More likely Yancy. Or maybe a player from another school. But we'll see.

Wouldn't surprise me if he was talking about Yancy. I fully expect Gates to enter the draft to get evaluated which is not uncommon for juniors.

I also expect that he will eventually take his name out of the draft and return to UC for his senior season.

That was my thought process as well.

Just saw from Zagsblog that Ashton Gibbs is testing the NBA waters but is not hiring an agent. That would be a huge loss for Pitt if he leaves. Not sure he will though. I don't see him being drafted in the first round at this point.

Actually, I think that started last year.

I, too, see this as just a way to see what he needs to work on and where he stands.

that is context in which it is usually used.

If that is the case he is doing it to be evaluated which is actually a pretty good idea and then he will take his name out. There is no way he thinks he is ready for the nba

he just spent some time with Lance in Indy....who knows what he is thinking. tons of guys declare every year that aren't ready.

anyways, the whole "test the waters" process has been changed the last few years. with the date to back out being pushed up significantly before last year, guys dont have time to go workout for teams and go to the predraft camps before backing out. thus, they can test the waters- but it doesnt serve the same purpose it did several years ago- for example- when James White and Armein Kirkland "tested the waters."
