ESPN removes Kilpatrick from their Wooden Watch

In spite of SK averaging 21 ppg, shooting over 50% from the field, 2.7 apg, 6.7 rpg, and 2 spg, Sean has been removed from ESPN's Wooden Watch list. Take Sean off UC and put him on Duke with those numbers and they'd be mentioning him as one of the favorites. It's sad really.

That guy is a clown. ESPN no longer has journalists. Everyone has to be a "character" and has to drum up some kind of controversy. That is the mandate from ESPN executives. Being a good journalist is no longer enough to have a place at ESPN. Just look at Skip Bayless. Dude is a fool.

The same reason Erick Green is not on the list. Until he plays against talent, we have no idea where he stands.

It's not like UC hasn't played anybody. They played a decent Iowa State squad and an Oregon squad that beat a supposedly really good UNLV team on their home floor. UC has one of the toughest schedules in the history of the program this year. It is not unreasonable to think that 4 or 5 of their first 7 games will end up being against teams in the NCAA Tourney.

And think about where SK's numbers would be if Cronin played him more than 23 minutes against Tenn-Martin (14 points, 3 boards), 25 minutes against MVSU (20 points, 7 boards) and 26 minutes against NC A&T (29 points, 7 boards, 5 assists). Look, I am not saying he is going to win the Wooden award but to take him off the list after 6 games in which he is averaging those numbers is stupid. It is obvious that the guy who wrote the article hasn't watched UC play. No surprise there.

Edit: SK is averaging 0.7 points per minute played!!! That stat is nuts!! If he played 37 minutes per night he would be averaging nearly 26 points per game (assuming that ratio held true).

Would he have those averages if he was playing Duke's schedule?

Duke's schedule just recently got tough. Everybody plays a few cupcakes early in the year, plus we played 2 solid teams and a decent Campbell team that is expected to win their league this year.

Also, don't forget Duke didn't schedule Ohio State. ESPN did that. Mick wanted Kentucky this year and got denied. Alabama is a good team but if Mick had it his way, UC would be playing UK at 5/3rd this season.

In all fairness to Jason king, who is better than the majority of espn writers who would you take off the list. I can see Archie but that's about it

For sure, I mean look at is this way...
#8 Kentucky vs #16 Cincinnati or #8 Kentucky vs Notre Dame...lol its a no brainer. But unfortunately ESPN lives on preseason bullshit hype so we get a mediocre game which won't even be close. All in all, I am happy with Alabama coming and its a big home OCC match up that will make our team better, thank ESPN.

Archie Goodwin has 3 points with 4:09 left and UK is down 13 against Notre Dame.

I think the premise is stupid. We are 6 games into a season and he feels the need to eliminate 35 people from the Wooden watch list? Seems like he is reaching for something to write about.

Yeah, thought the same thing Jason. You especially don't exclude a guy with Seans numbers. I get the part about the competition during the first 4 games but he goes off for 30 against Iowa St. and follows that up with 16 points, and like 8 rebounds against Oregon and plays on a top 20 team in a still elite league.
