I'm sorry but our fan base was lethargic, and that might even be a compliment.
It sucked at the keg of nails game and it was horrible tonight.

I was in section 138 and when x hit back to back long balls early in the first half, "we" sat down and stopped cheering...and started chastising instead.

I was the only one standing up... And eff off, I'm not getting off my soapbox right now.
Our. Fans. Suck.

No wonder Michael Johnson of the bengals says we suck, no wonder jay Bruce says we suck. We fucking suck as fans.
I implored my section to stand up and be supportive, but they'd rather sit and sulk. They looked at me like I was crazy when I participated in our chants. X had half the attendance but double the enthusiasm. Disgusted right now.

P.s. Mick's "defensive" strategy is for the birds.

This thread is dumb. I was at the game and uc fans totally dominated the game. We Just didn't have much to cheer about. The highlight of my night was watching x fans get kicked out of the game.

Dude hard to cheer when you're getting taken to the woodshed. They got spanked like the red headed stepchild UC played one of the worst games I've ever seen them play. It ain't the fans fault.

I was a tad buzzed when I wrote that so I do apologize for the language. Wish I could edit it.
Buuuut, I stand by what I said. I don't know how you didn't see the sea of red shirts sitting down all the way wrapped around to the half court line. X fans were on their feet on both sides of the ball, the entire game. Who cares what the score is?! Stand up and support your team for one of their biggest games of the year. The cats coming back after halftime was already an uphill battle, it was compounded by our fans' lackluster enthusiasm.
I honestly don't know how you could say UC fans dominated that game. The only sections that were truly on their feet the whole game were the sections immediately behind the student section.

And that was sweet watching that guy/guys(?) getting booted. Those were some good seats too, albeit in bearcat country. Why did he get kicked out? Too drunk?

I don't know man, I believe in fans being as loud as possible on defense, and we were library quiet VERY early in the first half and stayed that way until cats cut it to 12(?). I guess it's a difference of perspective. I don't expect Cameron Crazies loud on defense (though that'd be nice!), but I did expect more than that.
But you're right, cats were atrocious. But in a game of swings, I expect more from our fans, in order to help our team feed off some energy.

And once again I'm very sorry for using such ugly and attacking language in my first post. Mods feel free to edit that part out, if you wish.

F**k our fan base for allowing this program to become what it has. My biggest fears for this program have become reality. We're no longer slipping into mediocrity, we are mediocre. We've become an afterthought. We've become the second best program in our own city.

Yea I hate to admit this but it has some truth to it.

Our students did not even show up last night. A good portion of the floor seats were empty and the X students came out in force. Totally Unacceptable.

Will say this... ticket prices are way too high for this game. 35 bucks for nose bleeds is absurd. 20 bucks should get you in the door.

An awful lot of hardcore Bearcat fans have been saying this for the last five years. But, if you state that on these Mick Cronin Fan Club sites, you get attacked, called a Troll, and eventually banned. It's being proved out who was dead-on right all these years. I walked out of that arena last night embarrassed to the core. It's comforting to know that the closest thing we have to a shooter is leaving this year and we're recruiting nothing but big men. Add to that the one guy most of us thought has the type of offensive talent we've been lacking, is now transferring to Ball State and you have the sorry state of Bearcat basketball in 2013 in year #8 of the Mick Cronin era. So, with nothing on the horizon to give us any hope for year #9, we"re now looking at year # 10. Does anyone really believe year#10 will be different.

The Cronin era needs to end like the Rick Minter era did. Both were decent coaches, but incapable of taking this program to the next level. Like the title of the old TV comedy said..."Eight is Enough".

For me, the only thing that eased last night's pain was coming on this Mick Cronin Fan Club site and looking at the meltdown from his disciples. I had to chuckle.

I'll be in my seats for every game the rest of this year supporting this program like I Always have, and hoping that Whit Babcock and Santa Ono have finally had enough of mediocrity and dwindling fan support and make the right move to repair this program. After last night, the task is daunting. Thanks Mick for having a full week to prepare for X and giving us that effort. Wow!!!!!

Can everyone just calm down?

No?

Wait i forgot, this is the classic post-game meltdown we just have to have before the season turns around.

Listen man, I understand you are frustrated with Mick. I am not the biggest Mick Cronin supporter, people on this board back in 2010-11 know this. However you need to realize how blessed UC is to have Mick Cronin.

Any other coach would have bolted as fast as possible after making ONE NCAA tournament. The fan sport is extremely poor, the home arena is a borderline dump, the conference situation is now in limbo and the budget isn't very good. Since Mick is a loyal alum, he has stuck around through it all and even tried to make improvements (like the practice facility). He is not going to be fired any time soon, if you really want him to leave that bad your only hope is he leaves on his own. Other coaches take notice when you run off a guy that has been making NCAA tournaments.

Without Mick, UC basketball would be in the same position as UC football; a stepping stone school for young coaches.

UC badly needs a new arena to play in and some actual fan support before this becomes a attractive job.

I agree with this. I got about the best seats you can get in the under $50 seats and they weren't even in line with the court. The fans in this town are horrible, but you have to know your market. Overpaying is not something this conservative midwest town is about, even if their is plenty of money in the city. I think going forward if the game is going to be played at US Bank, just include the game in both teams season ticket packages and divvy out the seats based on priority points. I don't know what both teams combine for season ticket sales, but I highly doubt it's 16,500. I would venture to guess ours is around 6,000, there's is probably similar. Give each team 8250 seats to sell, put it in with season tickets, you can still charge good money for the seats and any extra tickets can be bought by your donors first, then the general public as it is anyway. And quit with the home team for a nuetral court game. Let whoever won the game the previous year choose which jerseys to wear. Make it 50-50, let both schools bring students every year.

I know that many fans feel the same way. Ill be at the games too providing my support like always.

Looking at Arizona ranked #1 right now really makes you think about the paths programs can take and how a bad or good hire can make all the difference in the world. Arizona in the Lute Olsen days was very similar to UC under Huggs. Both programs went through tough transitions. Arizona realized quickly that they made a bad hire and went out and got their guy, now their back on top.

The same position as UC football...a program that until recently had to hire new up and coming coaches that needed to have great success to move on and kept the program moving forward? I might take that as an alternative to perpetual mediocrity.
