Game predictions

How do you guys see the game going? Lets some some in-game predictions and then a final score.

--First 2-3 mins I see a scuffle of sorts after a shooting foul. Possible double T, more then likely nothing too serious though. (Hard foul from gates on Tu after a drive)

-Lyons will talk a lot of shit. He will be in the face of anyone and everyone. He will also have two 3's in the first half.

UC will open up going to Gates a lot- and he will respond well score 6 of teams first 9 points.

UC will be up 6 at half time, though it should be a lot more based on how game is going. (UC miss a lot of shots but defend really well and hold X to a lot of one shot and done on offense)

Xavier will open on a little run to start the second half- which will cause a lot of frustration in the crowd.

A player on UC will explode this game and be great- a guard who will hit 4-5 3's.

Xavier wins 66-61...I cant pick UC to win-though as I have said- X needs to play very well to have a shot.

Post game Mick says something along the lines of "well, they can have this game-we will play in March while they watch"

DontMissHim, you've got to learn to differentiate your brain and your heart. Even though it makes me puke in my mouth a little, I can understand that you want X to win badly. What I can't understand is how you can think X is going to win this game. It's certainly possible, but not as likely as the other outcome. On a related note, I did check out xavierhoops.com today and perused their prediction thread. Out of 40-something posts, 8 picked UC to win. I love my school and all and will always hope she wins, but that's straight up delusional.

All that being said, this game will be a clean one with no technical fouls on the players. A T might be called on one of the coaches (either one is equally likely) for complaining too vehemently about the refereeing. Tu will drop 25-30. Frease will be a bumbling idiot. UC will catch on fire from 3-point range. And X will lose by 15+.

This will be a very sloppy game IMO. Think NBA finals last year, game 7. I don't think either team will have great shooting percentages. There will be a lot of missed shots.


I think Tu will be able to do what he wants, he will be the best player on the floor. The question is, when will he try to take over, and will it be too late?

Mick won't pressure the whole game, Lyons and Tu are too quick for that, if he does it will open up easy buckets. I think Mclean will have a good game on the boards. Frease will get around 10 points. He has been hitting his short jumper recently, and will continue to do so.

I'll take Xavier in this one. This will be UC's players first huge game of the year and it will show, X has already experienced these types of games. Xavier has played better teams this year, and hung with them.

Give me Xavier: 68- UC 64

I keep hearing that this is UC's first big game and that X has already played these type of games.LOL... X has lost every game in which it has played a halfway decent opponent so whoever keeps using this excuse is a idiot. X goes 1 deep and thats tu-tu. So UC is going to key on tutu and make any other player try to beat them. I really do see UC by 15 and then after the game everyone is going to say that X is down with injuries, but no one will mention that the last 5 years UC has had to rebuild from scratch. So after a 15 point win i expect the X fans to say they knew this was coming and that if X was not hurt then they would of destroyed UC...Plus if i was going to the game and even heard any type of smart ace remark from a X fan i would probably smack the sh#t out of them, then watch them pray that i dont unleash an ass whooping on one of them.....

Cincinnati has everything going for it and Xavier has some issues. Looks like the perfect storm in this rivalry for a Xavier win. But I don't think so.

For one thing I believe this UC team is much better than it's given credit for. It's sum is better than it's parts. People want to bring up the soft schedule. This team has five seniors and two juniors that have been in many tough games. If this was a frosh/soph dominated team maybe the schedule means something. Not with a veteran team.

Holloway is a very good player. But he is human. Thirty nine minutes a game takes it's toll and I think Mick will push this in a game of emotion that adds to the physical drain.

Xavier will look to control tempo. UC will push at every opportunity. It will be physical. It will be intense. Recent history leaves that gnaw in my gut that Xavier is the fly in the ointment. I'm never comfortable in this game. But when it's all said and done, I believe things are cyclical. Tonight will start a new cycle with a Bearcat victory.

This UC team is on a mission. I think they'll win by 6-8 points in a game that will be back and forth into the second half. Cincinnati wins 68-62.

Having said that, I truly believe if UC is up 10-12 with ten or so minutes to go that the game will end in a blow out. That would be my preferred outcome, but I will stick with the predicted 6-8 point win.
