Still A few hundred tickets left on Gobearcats.com

Very tough game to predict but I think the crowd and defense brings us a Win

Of the 10 players who featured in Georgia's first game, 8 were brand new to the program and the other 2 were deep bench players last season.

They appear to be a lot less talented than the team that blew us out in Athens last season.

FIU, who finished #292 in KenPom last season, played them close up until the final minute on Tuesday. Georgia shot the ball a lot worse from the field than we did as well.

I'm not expecting a big offensive turnaround from our opener but I still think we win comfortably.

Should be a good eye test game to see how we can do against like athletes and size etc. We definitely overmatched Evansville in that respect but either way I expect to see the same type of aggression on D and at the rim. Some of our pick and roll dunks might be better contested etc. I expect we will get fouled a lot. Would like to see Newman try to get to the rack more in this game. Mikey's speed might be more useful in a game with better athletes...because he is still fast enough to get by most defenders.

-10 is a surprise, wasn't Evansville only -9.5?

Looking at their roster, it doesn't appear they have a ton of size. They had only one player over 6'7" play more than 4 minutes (Braelen Bridges, 6'10" 235 lb) last game. They appear to be more of a small and quick running team, than a team that can match us in the paint. I imagine we will see a lot of press and them trying to run us off the court (it worked for them last year).

It will be a test for some of our bigger lineups to see if we can defend a major level smaller team with our twin towers lineup. Also a test of the ball handling of every guard except DDJ. If we can slow things down, not turn the ball over and dominate the paint, we should come away with an easy win. If we let them speed the game up and make us run, we still have the depth to keep up, but it won't be as favorable for us.

Ugly start so far, Georgia getting free drives to the rim. DDJ has missed 3 open mid-range jumpers, Ado with a couple TO's. Newman has been the bright spot, 3 offensive rebounds in 3 minutes.

Not sure Ody Is a great defender but I like him a lot

Ody looks like he will be very good eventually. But for now, I wouldn't mind seeing less of him on the floor and more of him on the bench. Gets out of position a lot on defense and has very limited offense.

Fun team to watch. Just a lot of energy out there.

Thought Koval had a pretty nice game today. Vik should lead minutes for bigs but tough call after that. Koval is pretty active and agile and can shoot. Ody is perhaps a little to jacked up at times and Ado has not been very impressive thus far.

That would be my order 1. Vik 2. Koval 3. Ado 4. Ody. Ody can move up as he matures, he gets out of position and out of control trying to do too much. Ado physically looks more impressive than Koval, but Koval has outplayed him thus far.

Lakhin it's a bit hard to get a read on how he would do at center, since he has almost exclusively played the 4. I'd like to see him get some minutes at center though.

Ody/Ado may improve, but we've got enough other guys and lineups we can try to prepare for if they don't. Perhaps work Hensley in at the 4 to see how he does so Lakhin can play more center.

Viktor is going to be the real deal if he can stay healthy.

Late game coaching mistakes. Mason should have been in. And MAW is and will always be the late game FT guy. Zero clue why he was inbounding.

Dd could be a damn good player if he had any sort of mid range. Struggled tonight.

More Viktor. More koval.

I do like that Wes Is letting guys show him who he can trust and not just go off last season.

But overall I’m happy as hell.

First 5 minutes and final 10 minutes of the game left a lot to be desired, but otherwise, there were some very fun stretches of basketball in there and the positives outweighed the negatives.

We did great on the boards and didn't turn the ball over/foul that much - those are two areas where we've already shown a significant improvement over last season.

It seems like we're just going to have to take our lumps with the outside shooting.

Hopefully better ball movement/screens along with dribble drives/kick-outs deliver more consistent open looks as the season goes on and we hit a decent percentage of those.

Long gone are the days of someone like Jarron or Jaevin hitting multiple contested 3s every game.

Next year Skillings should be a Dude like that.

I think Davenport and Mason will be fine with volume 3s. Mason has a quick trigger and Davenport is tough to block as well because he shots from so high. Tough to get Mason a ton of minutes but he probably needs more to catch a run
