What is the best single play? It doesnt have to the most meaningful or anything like that. It could be the most impressive or just something that you found amazing. Here are some that stood out to me recently.

- Gilyard taking the opening kickoff to the house @WVU

- Peads run against WVU last year

- Collaros 75 yard draw for a TD.

- Celek going through the entire Rutgers defense for a 75 yard + td.

- Pead's screen pass and stop move at Rutgers last year to really end it IMO.

- Ryan Manalac's INT to ice the 2007 game verse Rutgers

- Mardy's Kick return @ Pitt

- Opening touchdown verses VT, Pike to Gilyard in the corner.

- Goodman at Louisville when he was in the air for about 10 seconds.

- Pike to Ali to beat WVU @ WVU

- Countless Haruki plays?

- Mike Mickens owning Grothe on what seemed to be 10 INT's. My two favorites were taking it back @USF and the Thursday night game here.

- Underwood catching the pitch to beat Pitt and win out first ever Big East Title.

- Pike to Binns ( I was in the top row with KCourt, DontMissHim, whatever else they call themselves and my brother. I have never yelled so loud in my life. )

My vote is for the obvious Pike to Binns.

Any that I missed? What was your favorite?

Mardy's kick return last year against Pitt is the winner in my opinion. Granted, the Binns TD was what sealed the deal, but given the score was 31-10 and it appeared the game was over before half, Gilyard takes one to the house. As Sean McDonough said, "Mardy Gilyard is free at last". That play, to me, personified was Mardy was all about during his tenure at UC. Frankly, I think a Ring of Honor is certainly in order. I would not be upset even if UC wanted to put a statue of Mardy up somewhere.

On a negative note, another play that sticks out in my mind is George Murray dropping Gino Guidugli's pass in the endzone from 4th and goal against OSU.

It was the 67th minute of a crucial game on April 17th, 7:00 PM game time playing against a great Vanderbilt team, Katie Johnson connected from 30+ yards out. I remember just how crucial it was, as UC was up 1-0 at that point in the game, which was very back and forth. That goal put UC ahead by 2 with only about 24-26 minutes left in the game. It really changed the momentum of the game and UC took control after that. Huge goal in that, not only was it a goal to go up 2-0 on a pretty good Vanderbilt squad, but it was the first goal of the spring season for Katie, which really got her going. Just an amazing atmosphere and intense game.

I thought we were talking football only this thread? Certainly a lot of other plays come to mind on the hardwood.

Whoops, I didn't even realize this was the football thread. When I check bearcattalk I just go to the recent threads on the right hand side of the page. If it's just football, I would not go with one play, but rather the series of plays in the comeback against Pitt. Instant classic.

Although the collaros draw was pretty sweet watching it. Was that the first play he was in the game?

It wasn't the first play but it was the first drive. If you recall, the run was on 3rd and 11. Zac makes the 75 yard dash and Fowler commented up to this point Zac had been on the baseball team and was the holder on extra points. This prompted Jesse Palmer to say the infamous line "Are you kidding me"?

My most memorable, at least in person, is the Celek TD run vs. Rutgers. The Gilyard 61-yard TD catch late in the Hawaii game was pretty good, also, just for the sheer excitement of the comeback.

Pike to Binns... Celek stomping Rutgers fans' hearts everywhere... Mardy's KO return for a TD before halftime against Pitt... no order... though I think it's clear that Pitt game is the most exciting, memorable, classic, etc in the history of UC football...
