When it was suggested there might also be a future Hall of Fame coach at West Virginia, Huggins quickly dismissed the notion.

"That's probably not true," he said. "But I have been very fortunate to have great players."

Huggins, who took 14 University of Cincinnati teams to the NCAA Tournament in 16 years while compiling a 399-127 record, faces his old school for the third time Saturday in Morgantown. He's 0-2 against the Bearcats.

The major omission on Huggins' Hall of Fame resume is the lack of a national championship, but Ray Meyer, Ralph Miller, Pete Carrill and Lou Carnesecca have all made it without one.

There's nothing lacking about the rest of Huggins' credentials.

He's 660-240 as a head coach, 22nd all-time in career victories, just four behind UCLA's John Wooden. Only three active coaches - Duke's Mike Krzyzewski, Syracuse's Jim Boeheim and UConn's Jim Calhoun - have more wins.

Good I hope he downplays the game. This is such an important game for our program. I don't want to over do it but this could make or break our season.

He also downplayed Crosstown Shootouts and we all know how that worked out.

Huggins doesnt do well in game where he has more talent but the other team is not willing to back down. He wins a lot of his games because other teams dont want to take the beat and eventually back off.

He stuggles in the tournament and verse big rivals because these teams play with relentless effort and a lot of the times his teams do not match it.

As he did against Xavier I think huggins will make practice very hard and put a lot of pressure on his team to win this game. If UC brings the effort for 40mins I think its a coin flip on who wins.

I dont like the comparison between this game and when he used to play X. He wants to win more than anything but it's just another game to his players. When he used to play X it was a rivalry for the players as well.

I think last year's game and coming back to cincy finally gave Huggs the closure he didn't have. He was very emotional and appreciated everything, we as fans, did for him throughout his career at UC.

He will always want to beat UC more than anything, but his players won't really understand. His players view Pitt as their rival...not UC.

Huggins can "downplay" this game and his HOF questions, but lets be honest here. Huggins wants to win this game and he wants to be in the HOF. This is him simply saying the politically correct thing.
