“Cincinnati vs. Xavier is off the charts,” Huggins proclaimed. “I mean, it’s off the charts. Kansas State vs. Kansas is a rivalry, but it doesn’t come close.”

“There you have the players playing against each other all summer. For the most part, they are pretty close but when that game happens … I got in trouble for saying it, but it is a holy war. It’s Catholics against heathens. That’s the way they look at it,”

“They’ve always had this thing that they were the poor little school down the road and we had all the money and resources. I mean, there’s nothing like it.”

As usual, Huggy is still the man.

Gotta love his brass and candor.

Didn't Huggins use to say it was another game? Coaches always say that, they know how important it is, they just downplay it to the media to not get any posterboard material.

X/UC will never be just another game. I am sure Cronin would love to make it go away and I cannot blame him. Too often coaches are graded by a single game instead of a season. One only has to look to Columbus to see that. Lose to Michigan every year and see how long you last.

It means much much more to those X losers than us. It's their Super Bowl. The series should be canceled. Its not worth it. We have nothing to gain and everything to lose.

Yes Ralph, I can tell by this board that the X game means nothing to us lol. Those "losers" are 5-2 against your god. That is 1 OOC game against a quality opponent we can count on every year. Does it mean too much to BOTH schools? I think so. But that is what a rivalry is about, right?

Amberly, is this you or your wife?

Heard from a friend in WV that he's drinking a lot again and hangs out at the bar all the time, eating bar food and buying drinks for people there. Sad. You'd think he'd be a little more careful after the first heart attack. Even just look at his tweets on Twitter from last night. He clearly had a few to drink. I feel bad for him. Really wanted to see him succeed, but it looks like he's kind of giving up.

He never stopped drinking a lot. Last time I was in Morgantown for a football game my host asked "hey, do you want to go see Huggs?" pretty late into the night.

I said absolutely and we were on our way. We went to the bar he is known to frequent and there he was, passed out at a table. Apparently they have two guys assigned to him to drive him around and make sure he stays out of trouble.

Love that man but he is definitely burnt out. He had one renaissance his first few years at WVU (with Beilein's players) but outside of that he hasn't had that many great teams the last decade.

Are you serious?! That is sad to hear but man that sounds like something from a movie. lol

He has no good recruiters, that's the key. If he gets talent, he can really coach them up. Problem is, he isn't getting the same talent.
