Wow, people who put him best in the NBA are really clueless. How exactly does he make anyone else better on his team? He doesn't compare to Lebron in that category, or frankly defensively, and I'm not even sure Lebron is best in the league. Melo can score, he is a very good 1-1 player, but lets not kid ourselves and think he's a lock down defender or an elite play maker.

The elimination of the hand checking rule demised defense in the NBA. There are NO lock down defenders in this era.

The league is soft because of Jordon. You cant tell me you never heard of the "Jordan Rules". He got all the soft calls and fans/players knew it causing the refs to start applying the Jordan Rules to everyone-thus the NBA is where it is today. Jordan dropped 65 (his highest point total) and that included overtime. Kobe dropped 63 in 3 quarters and sat the fourth-and also dropped 82 (almost 20 points more then Jordans best game...and that included 5 extra minutes of play)

To answer your question- everyone you mentioned is better (all around) then melo. I would also include CP3 and possibly even D.Williams. If I was starting a team I would take everyone else mentioned before Melo, simply because As K-court said--melo is a solid one on one player-but he makes no one around him better. He could never win a championship because of that. Everyone else mentioned are almost as good (some better) then Melo in the one on one game and yet they also make everyone around them better=better all around players.

I saw crawfords comment. I saw he thought he could be better then MJ...he obvously was smart enough to stay away from Kobe. He has seen Kobe win without a top 50 player on his team..
