Jerome Seagears will definitely leave Rutgers regardless of whether Eddie Jordan becomes the next coach and has set several visits already, his coach told SNY.tv Thursday.

“He’s moving on, he needs a fresh start,” Darrick Bond, head coach at Flora MacDonald Academy, said by phone. “Either you’re all in or you’re all out with Coach Jordan’s program and he needs a fresh start without the stigma [of the Mike Rice firing] following him.”

The 6-foot-1 native of Silver Springs, MD, averaged 6.5 points and 2.6 assists.

Seagears will visit Auburn beginning Friday, will then trip to Arkansas the weekend of April 26 and West Virginia the weekend of May 3.

Bond said Seagears wil also take visits to Marquette and Cincinnati, but no dates have been set.

Baylor is also under consideration, but Bond said Seagears would likely take an unofficial there.

“He’s moving on,” Bond said. “He has nothing against the people at Rutgers, the people were great. But he needs a fresh start.”

Meantime, Nate Blue, the mentor of Rutgers wing Mike Poole, confirmed to SNY.tv that Poole would not stay and play for Jordan and would transfer and seek a waiver to play immediately next year.

“No,” he said when asked if Poole might stay, “that Rutgers chapter is closed.”

no thanks. Hed have to sit out a year and id all but guarantee Caupain and KJ would be better in a year and by the time seagears could play anyway.

but arent we already 1 scholly over? doing the cincy public school math. that puts us 2 over

Correct but there is always a way to get things to work out. If you recall Mick recruited Seagears (Eli Carter too) out of high school, so I am sure they just got in contact with him again and were able to land a visit. This, to me, seems to follow Mick's philosophy that you never stop recruiting. If I had to guess it would be Gaines and Morman going to a prep school for a year.

He'll be able to play right away under the circumstances. I like the ideal of an experienced starter playing the point. Mick recruited him before but I have a feeling he may wind up at WVU. I like Eli Carter better too. Stop worrying about the scholarship situation. I promise you the staff isn't.

oh im not worried about it now..with us being 1 over. but if we are 2 over..then obviously another player has to go and with our roster stacked on young guards right now, i wouldnt want to waste another scholly on a guard..maybe a center or pf since we dont have 1 proven 1 on the roster. Lawrence and Rubles are SFs by ability..yes they can play down low but their skill set shows they are better playing on the ball not back to the basket. And sorry but imo JJ is just a lost body running around out there who will block some shots every once in a while, but he evens the game out with his turnovers on the other end of the floor and his foul trouble.

I just dont want to have morman or another guard go prep and the possibility of losing him for a guard who isnt much if at all better.

I think WVU would make sense to me, Huggy is seriously overhauling that roster after the disaster of year. Not to mention WVU was one of his favorite along with Cincinnati and Rutgers when he we coming out of HS.

I believe in the end it came down to WVU and Rutgers. Plus there is an overhaul going on in Huggy's world of the roster so playing time is there.

He just left rutgers, i thought i read an article saying he isnt going to play for Jordan at Rutgers either. Or that may have been Poole
