Katz calls UC contender

We are. No matters what happens if we get into the tournament we are dangerous. If we are a 3 seed or a 11 seed we are capable of beating anyone.

CBSSportslie.com has a nice piece on them as well. People are starting to notice. Split the next two and people will really take notice.

Or win the next two

I like where your head is at!

In all honesty, the way this team has been playing on the road in the Big East gives me a ton of confidence for Saturday. We used to talk all the time about how we match up with other teams. Not any more. Other teams have to worry about how they match up with us. Calhoun tried to go to a 4 guard look last night and it failed miserably. When he went back to his standard big lineup, the damage was already done and his bigs never got into the flow of the game.

Remember, when UC beats Syracuse Monday night do not attempt to storm the court, act like you have been there before.

They will storm the court if we do win. No doubt. If that stuff gets students coming to all the games than I am cool with it. I am never a fan of storming the court but that is the least of my concerns in regards to the Syracuse game.

I am overly excited for what all our bearcats have accomplished. But, I think this Saturday's game now is bigger than UConn (only bc the ucoon game is over). If we have to play flat on Saturday and get beat, the national perception of us will be right back to mediocre/irrelevant. Especially with the Cuse coming up, its huge we win this Saturday just for our record's sake. If we want to be the head #2 spot of the BE, we need to win against WVU. I hope the players realize that. Imagine if/when we win on Saturday. ESPN will hype the Cuse game up so much it will be amazing publicity for UC.

shoemaker isn't a very "storm the court" friendly arena. the gates and barriers around the student section impede the ability to do so. if they do it, it will be slow and not very dramatic.

anyways, I'm all for storming the court. it shows fire and support by the fans- something uc desperately needs. big wins deserve to be celebrated. people can say "act like you've been there before" all you want- but the fact is- these students have never "been there before" nor has uc even hosted a #1 at home since the 1940's.

Please for the love of god do not storm the court if the Cats are fortunate enough to win, it just seems seems so amateur to me.

I'm honestly surprised the NCAA or someone hasn't but a rule/violation on this. IT just seems there is a lot of bad things that could happen, especially to the players. I mean, you got Roy Williams making his starters leave early just so they don't get trampled. I like it in football but I guess only in certain situations in bball. The court/area is so much smaller in bball which leaves for greater problems. And I agree with it seems amature sometimes..like when nebraska beat IU the other day...I thought that was so lame. Congrats Nebraska..you beat IU Whoo Hoo.

I can't believe I agree with Ralphie. Please don't storm the court. What are we, Xavier? That is such a mid-major thing to do. This is UC. Multiple NCAA titles, final fours, etc. Act like you've been there before.

I agree but remember these students, they HAVEN'T been there before. The last time UC was good (before last year), many of these kids were 8-12 years old. Wow, I just made myself feel old. I can't imagine how Ralph must feel. :D

Cincinnati made the tournament comfortably as a 6 seed last year, its not like UC hasn't been good for a while.

I said before last year. And they were a 6 seed. When's the last time they were a #1 or #2 seed?

Answer: Steve Logan's senior year. 31-4 in 2001-2002.

Storming the court is for Virginia Tech against Duke, not for a program that has had as much success as Cincinnati.

success by standards of "prestige" was at best 16 seasons ago. a whole generation has grown up without UC having success. college students now were born after the 92 final four. they were 3-5 years old when uc went to the elite 8 and lost to miss state. they don't identify with the success you identify with. let the students have their fun if they want to.

how about this though- lets worry about beating WVU- who is playing as well as anyone in the big east right now on saturday first.

I don't know why you are arguing with me. I said in the first post I made that I don't think they should rush the court. My only point is you have to remember it isn't you or me rushing the court. It is kids 18-22 years old who haven't been around for the success like we have.

If we beat Syracuse on Monday night they will storm the court. I am OK with that.

The players would love it and Yancy and Co havent had that type of excitement since they have been here. Indiana stormed the court and vs UK and they have a lot of tradition....

If we do find a way to win and your UPSET about the students finally being excited and storming the court then you're the one with the issues here.
