The Bearcats (7-4, KenPom #71) host the La Salle Explorers (5-5, KenPom #221) for the penultimate game of their 22/23 nonconference schedule.

La Salle is coached by first-year head coach Fran Dunphy, an alumnus of the school and Philadelphia coaching legend, who most notably coached at Temple from 2006-2019.

La Salle, who has not faced the Bearcats since 2004, feature a host of returnees from last season's 11-19 team, a couple true freshmen, and two twin transfers from St. Peter's - 6'7 forwards Hassan Drame and Fousseyni Drame who combine for 18 pts and 11 boards/game.

They are a poor offensive team that ranks 292nd in AdjO per KenPom and shoots 40.7% from the field (329th in the nation).

LaSalle is kind of the opposite of Miami in that they are terrible on offense but decent on defense. They are a horrible shooting team that doesn't get to the line, but they are top 50 in taking care of the ball. Their defense is close to top 100 (better than ours). LaSalle doesn't do anything especially well on defense though, just well balanced overall with no weaknesses. They force opponents into more midrange shots than rim attempts.

A couple shooters to watch are 5'11" Jhamir Brickus who is hitting 45% from three on 3 attempts per game, and 6'4" Josh Nickleberry who attempts 6 threes per game at 35%. Brickus is the only really good shooter on the team (he went 6-8 from deep in one game) but he turns the ball over a ton, averaging 2.5 turovers per game with a sub-1:1 ast:TO ratio. Their best overall offensive player is 6'4" Anwar Gill, who has a 30 assist rate and does most of his scoring from the midrange.

Keep the pedal down for the next two games to get extended minutes from the guys we want to see a little more of before that rotation shrinks a bit starting conference play. Hopefully it will shrink the way we want it to after a couple more shots at getting experience.

That was a good offensive half against this team. I like how the younger guys are sharing the ball.

Some good and some bad. We covered the spread again. Wes seems to have been making some adjustments to clean things up and has one more game to get it closer to optimal before conference games start. His leash does seem a little long but not infinite. He's getting more animated and more likely to use the bench now. Those are good developments lately

First few minutes of the 2nd half aside, it was a pretty solid performance from start to finish.

Nolley did a great job of creating for others and Skillings had his best defensive game yet .
