I know I say it every time- just want everyone to know this is not a prediction- this is what he sees if tournament ended today. Having said that, I hate the 8/9 seed. Id much rather be a 10 seed..maybe even 11. Just hate seeing a 1 seed to get to sweet 16 (not for UC, for anyone. Hate being in the 8 9 seed)

I like the 3-6 range. I'm ecstatic if the 'Cats simply make the tournament this year- but ideally I'd like to see them sneak into a 5 or 6 seed. The 5/12 game is always dangerous but the entire tournament is dangerous. I honestly think a 5 or 6 seed is not out of the question. Continue to win the games you should and steal 1-2 you shouldnt... It's there for the taking.

PS

How the Hell is West Virginia a 5 seed?

Yes, they got the win at home vs. Purdue but then they blow one vs. Marshall. I think their resume to this point is worthy of a 10 seed.

WVU just had a PF walk out on the team in the middle of the South Florida game. They are now playing with only 9 scholarship players which is really going to hurt them in terms of practicing. They are not very deep this year and I think will take a few more lumps in conference play. They won't be a 5 seed when it is all said and done IMO.

I hope Bob wears his mustard suit to 5th/3rd this weekend and the 'Cats take them behind the woodshed and win by 25.

A 25 point win would be nice but to be honest, I will take a win in every remaining game by 2 points. I don't care how we win, just win baby!!

What do you think are the best and worst case scenarios for number of teams the big east will get in the tourney this year?

Joe Lunardi (4:08 PM)

Josh, I suppose the best-case scenario is 12 teams (if the currently projected 11 are so solid that all survive an upset winner of the Big East tournament). Conversely, I think it extremely unlikely the Big East drops below eight or nine bids at this point. In fact, last week I set the over/under of Big East teams at nine-and-a-half (and bet the "over").

dc (cincy)

How can Florida st and West v be seeded ahead of cincy, i assume you will have to swap them when Cincy beats West v Saturday....I mean both teams have terrible losses...

Joe Lunardi (4:20 PM)

There's really no comparison between Cincinnati's best wins and those of Florida State and West Virginia. If and when that changes, we'll move Cincy up.

Joe Lunardi is not on the NCAA Selection Committee and it is January 24 not March 15, teams have 11, 12, 13, 14 more games to play. The brackets will be far different from what Joe predicts today.

Pretty sure he is on the committe, not sure where you get your information from.

I am pretty sure he is NOT on the committee. If he was he would not be allowed to do these projections. It could be seen as a conflict of interest.

Yeah I know, I was making fun of Ralph because he doesn't like to speculate about the NCAA tourney. We like to have fun looking at bracketology, Ralph does not. Apparently since he isn't on the committee, Ralph doesn't care what he has to say.

Wow, I feel like a ****. I missed that one. LOL

Lunardi does a really good job though. He is usually somewhere in the ballpark of 63 or 64 out of 65.

In reality it's not difficult to get approx. 60 of the 65 when you consider all of the auto bids and lead pipe locks. It's getting those last half dozen or so that's difficult.

True but I also think he has a pretty good record of seeding as well (+/- 1 spot). That is not too hard either but he seems to be the best of all the projectors.
