I know it is early in the process for these kids but I was wondering if there is any info on some local kids such as:

Vince Edwards- Middletown 6'6 SF 15.9 ppg 13.7 rbd 3 ast
Tyonte Robertson- Withrow 6'0 PG no stats
Zach McCormick- Turpin 6'1 SG 18.3 ppg 4 stl 2 ast

I've seen all kids play in person and imo they are all major D1 prospects. It seems like other than Yancy we haven't really been involved with the good local talent. I feel that is one of the most important aspects in building and sustaining a championship caliber program.

why would where they are from be one of the most important aspects in building and sustaining a championship program? Cincinnati has never developed much talent, if UC recruited local more often they would probably finish last in the Big East.

Have you seen Aaron thomas or Semaj christon play both are very talented. What is Jordan Sibert doing in Columbus nothing he would be a major contributor on this team. We missed out on Chane Behannan. Not every kid on your roster has to be from the area but is important to secure local talent.
And I was talking bigger than just cincy I know more about the cincy kids because I watch them but how about the kids out of Dayton. Adrian Payne, Norris Cole, Daquean Cook, Juwan Staten, Geron Johnson- I know he had legal and eligibilty concerns but he is getting major looks now. Those are all kids in the last 4 or 5 years and I might have missed some. I know its unrealistic to get everyone one of those kids but I think all of those kids would contribute here.

Local talent is important for football because this is a football hotbed. Not so for basketball.

Yeah because there are alot more scholarships for football and alot more kids on the team but it is still important to get the best kids from your area to build a pipeline to your school.

When is the last time someone came from Columbus or its surronding area that isnt a Buckeye. I would say they are doing all right.

Sibert is averaging 3 points as a sophomore. Though I do think UC wanted him but it wasn't until late in the game.

My understanding is UC did not want Thomas or Semaj. Thomas obviously had academic issues. UC had Behanan locked up until he moved to Bowling Green.

Some of those players you mentioned are good and it'd be great if UC could go into Dayton and Columbus and grab all the best talent but that isn't realistic. There have been very few big time players come from Cincinnati and when they have UC has done a pretty good job of getting them.

Craft originally committed to Tennessee but backed out after the scandal....OSU has been very fortunate to have a ton of talent come from Matta's two major recruiting hotbeds: Columbus and Indy. Oden, Connoly, Cook, D. Thomas, Craft, Weatherspoon, Sullinger and probably others I'm missing all came from those areas. If Cincinnati had talent like that I'm sure UC would be recruiting the hell out of the area.

Thats what i was saying about Sibert. He is riding the pine where as here he would prob start if not he would be the 6th man.

Again I know its unrealistic to get all of them defintely Columbus because of OSU but Dayton is always loaded with talent and we are 45 min from Dayton. And im not on the inside but I watch a lot of cincy hs hoops and Semaj and Aaron are going to play from day 1.

I know not every year is big locally but some of those kids from the 2014 class are serious ballplayers.

I would much rather have a pipeline in New York than in the Dayton/Cincy area.

Yeah and it is nice that Mick is well respected in that area but NY is always going to be wide open because it is such a bigger market and you are always going to be competing with schools from all over the country for kids in NY where as UC should have an advantage in keeping the best local talent around.

There are dozens of high major prospects every year in New York. You are lucky if there are half a dozen each year in Southern Ohio. I'll take my chances in New York. Mick has landed some good ones out of there. Satterfield, DerMarr Johnson, SK, Lance Stephenson to name a few.

They is some local talen they are looking at. Jack Gibbs, Kwan Cheatham, Devin Williams, and Kevin Johnson, Vito Brown are all Ohio prospects for '13. I'd say Cheatham and Johnson are getting serious looks.
