I dont like Mick saying we are going to play 12 deep.... I dont necessarily believe it.

Basketball, especially OFFENSE, is a rhythm sport. Nothing is worse than making a shot and getting subbed out.

I like the idea of Justin being bigger. If this team is going to make any noise, he has to be much better.

Him being stronger hopefully doesnt translate into even more fouls.

You can't want to play constant uptempo and not sub regular. Good shooting requires fresh legs. The subs don't have to play big minutes but you have to sub. My guess is by conference season the rotation will be down to nine or ten. Remember, they have five new players and have to build a bench.

Great article, lots of good info in here. Not good to hear Caupain is playing on a sprained ankle. I'm assuming it's minor if he's still practicing on it. Sounds like the veterans will start and he doesn't plan on redshirting anyone. Other than maybe Strickland depending on how long he takes to get his eligibility cleared. I know it's been talked about alot on here and most people get it wrong with Shaq. He was redshirted because he wasn't eligible to play or practice until January and Mick didn't want to bring a new guy into the mix that late. I think if Strickland's eligibility gets pushed too far into the season we could see him redshirt for the same reason. Hopefully we don't have that problem. I want to see him play this year and develop. I like to hear that Mick challenged Jackson and also that Jackson has responded. Also like that Mick is calling out Guyn to have a bigger role. I think Guyn needs the push and the confidence booster from his coach. I'm so excited for this season to start. There are so many unknowns, but that just adds to the excitement.

I don't like how some of our fans lead in with negatives. There were a lot of little things to gather from that Cronin address...to focus on 12 deep is a bit myopic IMO. First off our depth in mid season could be 9-10 deep as someone has pointed out already. Early on I would expect 12 deep or 13 if we have 13. Mid season I am confident that number will change.

He seemed very comfortable with JJ at the C position and he mentioned JJ more than anyone. That is a relief since that was one of my MAJOR concerns this year. He talked about how he isn't concerned from an effort standpoint about SK, JJ, and TR.

He mentioned how he wasn't sure who would start between Thomas and Sanders. If that is not lip service I am excited to see the change in Sanders.

He mentioned TC a lot and he also said GG will be very crucial early in the season. That leads me to believe he expects TC will win that job at some point once he gets it.

He mentioned Lawrence in the same sentence as SK which leads me to believe he expects big things from Lawrence.

He did not mention KJ or DM or JDIII or DN. Sometimes what you don't say says a lot. I am hoping they all are major contributors this year specifically DM and JDIII...but the lack of mention makes me worry (moreso JDIII than DM or KJ since they are frosh).

By tournament time the rotation will be down to the 7 or 8 guys Mick can trust with a couple guys getting spot minutes to provide breathers.

Some people just don't get it, he was answering question! Kj and DM will play a lot, can't say much about JD III, KJ and DM are the most ready! You will see! You heard what captain said, you better listen!

The question was which freshmen are the most impressive. JD3 is not a frosh, so you can't really say one way or the other about JD3's PT yet.

12 deep is a terrible idea. Basketball is a game of rhythm, especially for shooters. Mick sees 12 guys as a plus because it will equal better defense. Mick is wrong. 12 deep rotation will not help an offense that has been below average for 5 years.

Why are we so hung up on the 12 deep? Mick said to start the year, more specifically he said in the first exhibition game they will play all 12 in the first half. We have young talent and they need to play. We have some cupcakes and the vets don't need to play 35 minutes vs. cupcakes. Mick needs to determine what talent he has and what that talent can do vs. real competition, not just in practice. Once the competition gets tougher and the score is close and the game is on the line Mick will find a rotation of guys that are effective and give us the best chance to win. Whether it be 7 or 13.

On who has stood out from the newcomers that could be an immediate help:
"I will say Kevin (Johnson) and you don't really here much from him but you can tell that he is a key factor and he can hit shots and someone that can help us on the defensive side as well. We know the younger guys are young but we know how hard they worked and they come in here day in and day out and just give everything they've got."

That quote was from Sean Kilpatrick, not Mick Cronin.

Exactly, Mick does not say much about any of the Freshmen because """"""" he has to be careful when talking to the Media! SK is the team Captain who's just letting you all know what it really is and you will see! Somethings are just left better unsaid, remember that one!

What are you talking about? He has talked at length about all the freshmen to multiple media outlets besides Jamaree simply because his eligibility is in question. You were the one who made the claim earlier that KJ would start at the point. In his most recent interview Mick flat out said G and Troy are the guys that will play the point with JD3, KJ, and Deshaun getting time there in practice in case of an injury. You dont need conjecture when the head coach flat out answers the question. We all hope KJ is a stud but your consistent posts trying to twist reality to fit your narrative has become tiresome.
