The Bearcats will look for redemption in paradise this evening as they hope to atone for yesterday’s 101-93 loss to Arizona while also aiming to defeat Ohio State for the first time in 60 years.
The Buckeyes (3-1) lost to #17 San Diego State 88-77 yesterday in a game that took on a similar trajectory to the UC-Arizona matchup. The Aztecs built a sizable advantage midway through the first half, took an 11-point lead into the halftime break, and comfortably held on for the duration of the game.
OSU was hardly tested in their first 3 games of the season, which saw them win each by an average margin of 29 points, but struggled to slow down an Aztecs offense that shot 50.6% from the field, 47.6% from 3, and 16/20 from the free throw line.
Once-Bearcat transfer candidate Sean McNeil led the Buckeyes with 22 points on 9/14 shooting.
The Buckeyes don’t boast impressive size (in comparison to Arizona) but have good athletes and a number of hungry freshmen from a top 10 2022 recruiting class.
The Bearcats are 3.5 point underdogs.
