This isn't the first time we have heard a statement from the brass at UC.  We have heard before that "we aren't sitting idle waiting for things to happen...we are positioning ourselves as much as possible".  When we were adding all those teams to try to save the Beast...I think we had a letter from the Pres to calm fan nerves.  If you think we haven't had private discussions with other conferences in the past...think again.  I am not saying they were or were not extensive but I think certain other conferences are/were well aware that UC is open for discussion.

Making it public...I think is a big mistake
