I dont want to get ahead of ourselves too much but I was thinking about how strong this team is going to be in the 2011 season. Lets take a look at this.

Offense: Not that our O is ever going to struggle but 2011 may be our best offense ever (perhaps not as good as this upcoming year).

Seniors: Binns (WR)
Hazelton (WR)
Griffin (T)
Cobb (G)
Ben G (TE)

Juniors: Jason Kelce (OL)
T.J. Franklin (OL)
Alex Hoffman (OL)
Kenbrell Thompkins (WR)
D.J. Woods (WR)
Iasiah Pead (RB)
Zach Callaros (QB)

You do lose two studs at WR but lets be honest we are stacked there for years. Not only do we keep the two I mentioned but we also have Howard and Dejuan Lewis to help replace them. We all love Ben G but Robinson isn't much of a drop off.

The 2 lineman are always concerning but we will be fine there.

It will also be the 2nd year of running this offense.

Of coarse our O is going to be good. What makes the 2011 team different is the great experience and overall skill on D.

Look at this years Starting D:

Seniors: John Hughes

Juniors: Derrick Wolfe (DT)
JK Schaffer (LB)
Dorian Davis (LB)
Dominique Battle (CB)
Wesley Richardson (S)

Sophomores: Walt Stewart (DE/OLB)
Dan Giordono (DE)
Chris Williams (CB)
Drey Frey (S)
Cam Cheatham (CB)

Freshman: We will see.

The lone senior is John Hughes who is starting right now but I believe that Brandon Mills will take over or share a lot of time with Hughes.

Your talking about 10-11 starters returning on defense.

The schedule:

Albany
@Tenn
Akron
@Miami
OPEN

Big East

If we could preform well this year and win the Big East and win the a BCS game we could easily start in the Top 10 or higher in 2011.

I cant wait for this year but I am very very excited to see our banner year... 2011.

Pitt is going to be tough. The UC defense must be stout against their rushing offense. If UC can do that, then I'd say a BE championship and BCS bowl isn't out of the question.

Pead, if still around, would be a senior in 2011. He will be a junior this year and has already spoken about his dream to play in the NFL. He has said that he may turn pro after this season if he has the kind of season he expects for himself. If he has that kind of season, UC will win a bunch of games this year.

If there's a lockout, he would obviously stay. Could work to the benefit of UC.

Not only do we keep the two I mentioned but we also have Howard and Dejuan Lewis to help replace them.

Howard will be a senior in 10 and gone unless he redshirts.

Losing Pead to the draft would be painful. Hopefully he will see the potential of that team and stay.

He will redshirt.

Pead will not leave.

I hope you're right about Pead, but he reminds me of a bigger Dexter McCluster. If he thinks he's going in the first four rounds, I bet he's gone (barring a lockout) and I wouldn't blame him. As a RB, you've gotta get your money while you still can.

Why wait until 2011? We went undefeated this past season with a young defense (which is an area I believe Coach Jones will make big improvements), we are replacing Pie and Mardy with quite capable back-ups and 2010 presents the opportunity to get higher ranked early in the season. The Oklahoma game will still have a decidely Bearcat crowd even at PBS and they are replacing several key positions (4 first round draft picks and 7 overall), we have Pitt and S. Fla at home. Other than the OU game, the one I worry about the most is going to UConn second last week of the season.

The future is bright for our program; however, I see the Oklahoma game as a program changer. This is the year.

I agree with all your points. On a side note, I hate losing (and subsequently having to replace) Pie. Unless I've lost it because I've eaten it. Welcome to BCT.

I agree as well. The Oklahoma game might be the biggest regular season game in UC history from a respect standpoint. UC is starting to get a little bit of love nationally but still viewed as part of the second tier. Beat Oklahoma and that perception begins to change. I like our chances offensively but I don't know if anyone knows what to expect out of our defense.
