There is no complaining about this new offense. The team looks very good, granted we are playing weaker competition but we are blowing teams out, you can't ask for much more.
This is what people like me have wanted to see from Mick all along. I'm really not sure why his hand had to be forced by the suspension to start running this type of an offense(that's another issue for another thread)but at least he finally did it. For those of you who were such big supporters of what he was doing before maybe now you'll be willing to admit that Mick was holding these guys back a little bit.
There is zero reason why you can't continue to run this offense when Yancy comes back. This offense will only become better with him in it. He is the perfect type of big to have a ton of success in this scheme. When Yancy and however the hell you spell his name get back it will help with the rebounding and post defense. You don't have to have 4 guards on the court to run this offense. You can run it with 3 guards and Yancy in the 4 spot just as effectively. If the offense does suffer when Yancy comes back the answer is simple, sit him on the bench.
Mick just needs to win games. Style points are an added bonus. All I've ever wanted from the guy was to win and to watch this team play a game without wanting to pull my hair out every time we got the ball into our half court offense. I am cautiously optimistic at this point that we have seen a turning point for Mick here at UC. I can't fathom that he would ever go back to coaching the style of game he did before the brawl.
I think it's now clear that we have some talented players on this roster, much more talent than any of us were aware of because Mick's old offense had the talent masked. I don't know about anyone else but I'm excited to watch this team get into the Big East. The way we are playing right now we are going to be a tough team to beat.
